To cancel this vinted sale?

VintID · 04/11/2025 19:35

I put a coat on vinted for £15.

Within 10 minutes I had some enquiries and another person bought it.

I went to their profile and they're a pro reseller selling loads of identical coats for just under £100. Their ads have a lot of interest too.

Would I be unreasonable to cancel the sale and re-upload it next week for slightly higher? If it wasn't a pro seller I wouldn't have given it a second thought but at the risk of coming across badly, if somebody is going to profit that much from the sale I want it to be me 😳

I dont so vinted but youve obviously underpriced it; unsure if any ramifications to you as a seller but yeah...

Thaimonstera · 04/11/2025 19:39

You’ll get an automatic negative review and 1 star from Vinted.

VintID · 04/11/2025 19:39

I'll be risking negative feedback but I have lots of positive and no previous negative so I don't think it'll hurt my account.

I definitely did underprice it.

I did that when someone bought a baby sleeping bag and I realised she would just sell it for £10 more. She sent me an arsey message that confirmed I did the right thing.

Highlighta · 04/11/2025 19:44

It depends on if you are selling to make space and it's just some money rather than nothing, if you had donated. Or are you selling to make some money on it.

The price was low so you got a lot of interest. If you cancel and relist higher, you might not get as much.

Dontbeatwat · 04/11/2025 19:44

I'd cancel and relist!

Cherry8809 · 04/11/2025 19:47

I think you’re being unreasonable.

It’s on you to do your due diligence before listing the item.

You offered the item at a price you thought was acceptable, and someone took you up on that offer.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 04/11/2025 19:50

I think it would be very dishonourable for you to renege on the sale, just because you failed to do your due diligence. You were happy with what you got until you saw someone else was getting more than you.

You'll probably find the re-seller can command the higher prices because she has the reputation of selling such coats, which are authentic, with lots of wear left in them. She may also do good bundles with other similar garments.

People who are looking for that brand of coat will also notice that yours has gone up for re-sale and be wary of why.

I agree with this. It's not the buyer's fault you didn't price appropriately and it would be unfair to cancel the sale. You're still getting money and getting rid of something you don't want, for a price you originally thought was fair.

BaconCheeses · 04/11/2025 19:58

Cancel and make an excuse like say you've damaged it or unable to post it due to illness and wait a month.

VintID · 04/11/2025 19:58

Thanks for the opinions!

The reason I'm selling is to make money for Christmas presents for my DC. I appreciate that isn't the buyers problem though.

Cancel and relist the other person is nothing to you.

MrsBlobby95 · 04/11/2025 20:01

If you cancel and click agreed with buyer it doesn’t give you negative feedback and they can’t leave you a review either

MrsBlobby95 · 04/11/2025 20:02

Then block the buyer and relist straight away if you like

mixedcereal · 04/11/2025 20:05

I would cancel and relist.
the buyer doesn’t lose out as they get a refund. All this talk is dishonour is a bit over kill for a vinted sale!

hmmnotreallysure · 04/11/2025 20:07

Yep I'd do it, cancel it, then as pp said block the buyer

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 04/11/2025 20:10

I do A LOT of vinted.

You want cash not space.
Cancel, wait a week - relist.

I got burned in the early days - now i always check live listed items to assess price not vinteds recommended price in the listing section.

Dontbeatwat · 04/11/2025 21:26

'Dishonourable' for a vinted sale , I'm sorry but that's crazy 😂. It's perfectly fine to cancel as long as you're happy to get the auto bad feedback!

VintID · 04/11/2025 22:09

Thank you all, I've cancelled the sale.

As shitty as it may be for the buyer, it's just more stock for them (and they have plenty!) whereas it'll make a difference for my DC at Christmas.
