Anyone taken their kids to see this? If so, what age were they please, and what age would you recommend?
I'm asking this as we took our kids aged 5 and 6 to see it (had a family member performing in it), but a friend is saying it's too scary for kids under 13 ish. I'm pretty sure my kids - now in their twenties - were not traumatised by it.
If you've seen it, what age would you say could manage it?

The theatre company reccomend age 8+ minimum, it is quite scary. Definitely not for 5 and 6 year olds

I don't know about scary but I could never wrap my head around why she goes.for the soft arse when the Phantom has literally killed to make her dreams come true. Love the songs.

Did your 5&6 year old enjoy it? I'd say 12+ or so much would just go over their heads. Different as they knew someone in stage, I guess that was fun for them?

oh they both loved it - at the time and since as adults.
We were so lucky. We got to meet the Phantom before he put the make up on, as we were concerned it might be scary for the kids. They completely understood the actors were just mummies and daddies - and cousins! - wearing make up like at halloween, and acting.
I understand not everyone can do this, and ordinarily I think age 5 is too young to understand the plot, but I reckon 10 yrs olds would be ok??

I'm pretty sure my 8 year old would love it!

My best friend went from age four every year. It was the highlight of her year.
