Not to go to breakfast?

DP often suggests breakfast out on a workday. I work funny hours so can often make it and he's SE.

I assume, when he makes the suggestion, it's because he has the time, but often he "just" needs to send or check this email etc.

He is working and I agree he should prioritise work, but if he doesn't have time for breakfast with me, he shouldn't have breakfast with me...

He thinks we're still having breakfast and that's what counts. I feel like a lemon sat in a restaurant with someone on his phone.

Yeah thats not on, maybe send/check emails before leaving the house, but once you are sat somewhere, absolute no no to then be on phone for work purposes.

Is he just checking a quick email? If so I think that's fine, if he's on his phone for the duration of breakfast it's your call. I sometimes go for breakfast alone and enjoy it!

Is breakfast a euphemism? 😉

Blanketfull · 03/11/2025 13:58

It starts as being a quick email but you know how it is once the phone's open.

I'm not particularly bothered about going out for breakfast, but a chat over coffee and a muffin is nice. I've come to the realisation that it's the food that matters to him.

Can you ask before?

”Can this be a phones face down breakfast?”

Just say no thank you then when he asks?

I would say 'working breakfast' or not. Do you have work stuff you can do too? Totally reasonable to mention it!
