Do you get talked to during reflexology?

I have ASD and like many suffer from anxiety and stress alongside. I love massages and have them regularly. I was thinking to try reflexology, but one of my hates is being talked to like at the hairdressers, and I’ve had a foot massage before where you’re sitting up rather than face down on a massage table and the massage therapist tried to talk to me throughout. Before I book a reflexology session, can anyone tell me if it’s normal for the therapist to talk to you during the session or will it be ok for me to go to?

I think the therapist will generally do what they feel the clients wants, so for example if a client who is very chatty they will reciprocate.
i am a qualified massage therapist and would tend to keep chat to a minimum as I feel clients get more out of session if they can completely relax which for most people would not be possible if talking.
My DC has reflexology and his therapist asked them what they preferred, chat or quiet, she made it clear. It was their choice. She also offers an eye mask, relaxing music and aromatherapy diffuser ( all offered but can be declined).
If you want to communicate that you prefer a quiet session you could say something like ‘ Don’t mind me if I go quiet, it helps me relax’ .

You can ask beforehand (via email if you are uncomfortable in person) to have a quiet treatment. It's a request that is more common that you imagine and a lot of therapists prefer it as well! I know that my salon owner friend gets requests for silent/quiet hair and beauty treatments and she doesn't find it remotely offensive or unusual.

I (51F) like traditional Thai massage and stretching, Chat up front about any injuries/issues, and if you are new any expectations/boundaries.Usually very straightforward. Then amazing deep tissue and stretching, obviously say if anything needs adjustment. I generally hate people touching me, but the Thai massage women are amazing

I usually just tell them at first that I prefer not to chat and they’re usually fine with that.

I am a Reflexologist and I usually say, during the first consultation, "I am happy to chat or be quiet." Then, when the client is settled on the massage table/lafuma chair, I ask them to concentrate on their breathing as they release tension and begin to relax.
The music is playing (if you don't want music, you can ask them to turn it off) and 9/10 people are quiet. Some even fall asleep.
Reflexology is really powerful and most holistic therapists will be led by you, the client. Let your Reflexologist know your concerns and they will do their best to make you feel comfortable. I hope you enjoy it.
