Does anyone have any experience in working within a grade 7 role within the civil service? I've been offered a lawyer role, but a £10k pay cut to current role.

Thanks!

I'm seriously considering going from teaching to Civil Service. It's such a huge range of jobs though - very overwhelming!

Technically UKHSA is great - very innovative and cutting edge. I don't know what their support services like legal department are like though.

I’ve worked in two different departments within the CS. One I found fitted every negative stereotype- numerous lazy and incompetent staff doing the least they could get away with, plus a few competent people carrying the rest. The other (a non-governmental dept) was the opposite- really high quality specialist staff, similar hours to private practice and lots of movement between CS and private practice and vice versa.

OP, what’s the role and what are you doing at the moment?

That's really useful, thank you. It's a lawyer role within UKHSA
