Well I regularly used to have 20-30 bruises on my legs and arms as a kid. (We used to count them 😂) Turns out I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome which can be the cause of excessive bruising and as an adult it's rare for me not to have at least three bruises at any even time. As a kid I climbed everything, fell over everything and spent a lot of my time upside down. But this was consistently. If your child isn't prone to bruising then I'd take her to the GP.

WhatIsTheCharge · 29/10/2025 19:34

Depends where the bruises are really.

Bruises on hard parts of the body - knees, elbows, ankles, shins etc are normal just a hazard of a healthy, active childhood. My DS will climb anything, runs everywhere and his knees are more or less just one big bruise most of the time!

Bruises on softer parts of the body that aren’t from an obvious fall or injury would be more concerning.

Anditstartedagain · 29/10/2025 19:36

The location of the bruises is the most important concern, are they in places you would expect a child be get bruises?

pimplebum · 29/10/2025 19:44

concerned about what ?

lukekimia= if you are serious ask for blood test

abuse =doesn’t meet threshold who do you think is hurting her ?

dyspraxia = ask for a referral if other symptoms are present

Merryoldgoat · 29/10/2025 19:46

No but her knees meet a bit - could she be hypermobile? Lots of hyper mobile kids get lots of bruises - I was absolutely covered in bruises as a child and am very hypermobile.

Dramatic · 29/10/2025 19:48

No that looks perfectly normal, my 5yo regularly has a lot more than that.

The first… I don’t think my doctor will offer a blood test 😢 they’re just on her shins / knees

My legs look exactly like that most of the time (I'm a primary school teacher).

Small children + classroom environment + playground equipment = bruises.

I currently have 3 bruises on my shins. No idea how I got them specifically though.

I wouldn't be concerned about those bruises at all, tbh.

londongirl12 · 29/10/2025 19:55

My DS has way more bruises, but he’s always running around, playing football, climbing etc. if you’re DD is like that then it’s fine.

No, that’s a normal area and normal frequency of bruising for that age.

Waitaminutewheresmejumper · 29/10/2025 19:57

Agree with pp, she looks like she's hyper mobile. I am and I'm always covered in bruises as is DD.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 29/10/2025 19:57

That is a normal amount of bruises ime, my dds legs were worse at that age.

miniworry · 29/10/2025 19:58

OP- ive been there and if you search back on my previous posts I actually wrote one almost identical to you. So many bruises but all in bony areas like your DD. Anyway we took her for a private blood test even though the peads doctor wasn't concerned it was for my piece of mind. She was absolutely fine, just bruises easily because she's pale- is your daughter pale.

He also told me that many many more symptoms for leukaemia show before the bruising that would tell you something is off, if she's eating, gaining weight, no night sweats and playing happily I wouldn't be concerned at all.

TardisDweller · 29/10/2025 19:59

They just look like classic little girl legs, dd was always the same, though I think her legs were actually worse than your dd's!

Bushmillsbabe · 29/10/2025 20:05

Any other symptoms? Agree with others that she looks hypermobile

My daughter bruises very easily, and very active, possibly hyperactive. Both symptoms are linked to her being coeliac. I dread summer when she wears shorts and dresses as her legs look terrible. Standard places for bruises, but looks so much worse than her friends

This could be completely normal. Or a sign of something.

JLou08 · 29/10/2025 20:11

That looks normal to me. Very common place for bruising and the bruises don't look sinister.

Zanatdy · 29/10/2025 20:25

Perfectly normal in my opinion, especially on knees / legs. Assume she’s in good health otherwise? Friends DS got leukemia and he stopped walking for a few weeks before diagnosis as it caused him pain (he was 3 I think).

FeedMeSantiago · 29/10/2025 20:29

I bruise very easily (hypermobile EDS) and my legs have always had bruises like that. I'm also dyspraxic.

Your DD looks like she may be hypermobile based on the bend of her knees IMO. That could explain the bruising. Does she have other signs of hypermobility?

Pleatherandlace · 29/10/2025 20:29

Doesn’t look like that many bruises to me 🤷🏼‍♀️

lukekimia bruises are larger purpler and do not fade and disappear and are all over and don’t hurt when pressed

I agree, I was expecting lots!

RosesAndHellebores · 29/10/2025 20:37

I agree with the hypermobility observations. It also looks as though she has flat feet and if she is hypermobile, some orthotics sooner rather than later may help keep her knees and hips aligned to avpid aches and pains later.

They don't look bad bruises.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 29/10/2025 20:38

No, that’s really not many bruises for her age
