to want to scream at the top of my voice: "STOP THE BIRTHDAY PARTY MADNESS" when my dds receive yet ANOTHER birthday party invite?

We have had parties every day at the weekend for 5 weekends, I kid you not. Over the next three weekends we had ONE day free with no party. This morning dd3 got an invite to a 2 year old's party (someone from her nursery who I don't know) on that ONE PRECIOUS DAY.

It is seriously cramping my style. Not to mention expensive.

you have two many children, that's the problem tbh.

Guadalupe · 06/06/2008 09:41

I often forgot about nursery invites.

It's harder at school when they are all talking about it but I always thought it odd to invite lots of people you don't know at that age, and you have to stay and make all that polite conversation, at the weekend? No thank you.

on the plus side, my ds1 is about to turn 7, and i've noticed that all the big parties with whole class invited seem to be stoppping in favour of more civilised small outings to bowling etc

Enid · 06/06/2008 09:44

lol at 'two' many

thats about right

sorry I meant two too many

But when they invites dry up you'll be wondering what's wrong with your DCs and why no-one loves them. Beleive me! Well I was . Whinge, whinge, whinge, bloody parties..whinge whinge..... no more invitations.... ..what's wroooong with my children.

Quadrophenia · 06/06/2008 09:47

I have four children and they are all still at birthday party age, and what is it with the flurry of summer invites....do winter birthday children not have parties?

cupsoftea · 06/06/2008 09:48

Lots of kids are having parties now as better weather (!) & before summer hols. I did dd party in Jan - no rain, not that cold & everyone outside

Countingthegreyhairs · 06/06/2008 09:49

Yes, I can never figure that one out Quadrephenia

... I tend to "edit" dd's invitations

Boco · 06/06/2008 09:54

Do you go to the parties too?
I edit invitations until they're at drop and run age and then relish the peace.

The ones where they're too little and you're forced to stay and watch some chuckle brothers style entertainers are the worst.

Love2bake · 06/06/2008 10:00

Just say no to some of them.

Enid · 06/06/2008 10:01

easier said than done when the top two open the invites and check the calendar themselvs

i guess I could write in trumped up days out to confuse them
