A safe space to confess whether you panic bought toilet roll

It’s been several years since the pandemic, lockdown, and those early months when the toilet roll disappeared from the shelves in bulk.

Yet despite it all being bought, I’ve never met anyone who panic bought toilet roll. Instead, most people are critical of the toilet roll panic buying. Someone is lying.

Given the time that’s elapsed, now is the time for the panic buyers of toilet roll to come out, admit it, and tell us whether they still have any left in the shed. No judgment, no criticism, just a safe space to unburden yourselves.

AIBU?

Our friends from Greece had warned us ahead of time that loo roll was a panic purchase when their economy went to shit and I was already prepping for Brexit. So although I had excessive stocks none of it was panic bought.

No! I thought it was a bizarre thing to panic about, because there are other ways to clean your arse if needs be!
We didn’t panic buy anything. I did that volunteering thing where you bought and delivered food and meds for people isolating. That was interesting. Some people it would be a whole shop and others literally litre of gin and a kitkat. No judgement, I was just there to get people stuff they wanted.

I never understood panic buying toilet roll. I would have thought food was a more pressing issue...toilet roll is not the first thing I would think to store in an emergency

Think the only thing I bought extra of is pasta and toilet rolls. Dh has ibs and has to go several times a day so we go through a lot them

I was too late to panic buy toilet roll, I clearly remember standing in Tesco staring at rows of empty shelves, not a toilet roll in sight! I did start getting a bit panicky by the time I'd gone to three other shops and not found a solitary roll - eventually found a 4 pack of cream coloured paper in a garage and pounced on it 😄.

Will unashamedly admit I stockpiled baby formula 😬went round several shops and bought 7 or 8 boxes - it was the only thing I was worried about running out of.

Understandable! Imagine running out in lockdown

Nope. I did not panic buy toilet roll. I did stock up on dried goods and tinned items and water. I did consider buying multiple copies of The Sun to use as toilet roll.
