£50 on a chocolate advent calendar!

So today I was at a friends home. She got a delivery whilst I was there and opened it, it was her family’s advent calendars, they looked really lovely so I had a little google when I got home.
The children’s advent calendars were £50! The children are only 3 and 4 and it’s not as those these are insanely fancy people, they live in a normal town, their oldest is only in a private school as that is where my friend works and gets a hefty discount.

AIBU to think £50 on a chocolate advent calendar is beyond bonkers, it doesn’t seem particularly special and I know my kids would prefer dairy milk or milky bar chocolate anyway. I really don’t understand the point.

I get that people sometimes spend a lot on other types of advent calendars which to me makes more sense but this is just a chocolate advent calendar! It’s over £2 per piece of chocolate at that price!

I was going to say YANBU, but then I saw Läderach. Suddenly seems like good value. Off to see if I can get myself one.

They are really nice - I always get my DD one

Well, your friend finds them particularly special and worth it, and so have chosen to spend their own money on something they’ll enjoy. Good for them.

No one is forcing you to do the same, or even suggesting that you do, so what’s the problem?

Looks like good value to me, 24 pralines for £45. Less than £2 a chocolate
