So I have pelvic pain, not like really severe but bad, feels like pressure as if my insides want to burst out. Hurts when walking, struggling to stand up straight. The weirdest part is the insides of my thighs are like numb feeling. A&e is a hour away and it’s getting late on a Saturday. I think I should just go to sleep and see how I am tomorrow. My husband thinks I need to see a doctor tonight. Thanks.

I think because of the numbness in your legs you need to call 111 for advice.

moonandsunsky · 25/10/2025 22:11

Go to A&E. Now. Numbness in your legs is not a symptom to ignore.

wordywitch · 25/10/2025 22:12

Numbness is a concerning sign. Have you lost control of your bladder at all?

ChocolateBoxCottage · 25/10/2025 22:14

I think numbness in that area is a 111 event. I have some disk protruding into my spine. Neurologist said any numbness in my saddle area or wetting myself go straight to A&E / call 999 situation. So on that basis I'd make the call

HevenlyMeS · 25/10/2025 22:18

God Bless You
I'm praying this passes & I'm thinking, if your husband wishes you to be checked out, then he knows you really well & wishes for the best for you
Maybe you should take his recommendation?
Wishing you all the utmost best
Please keep us informed how you get on, when you have the chance 🙏

JurassicPark4Eva · 25/10/2025 22:21

Do you have control of your bladder and bowels?

The numbness makes me (not a medical person!) think of cauda equina.

At the very least, phone 111 to discuss.

CremeEggsForBreakfast · 25/10/2025 22:21

This is exactly what 111 is for. Call them and let them advise. You also have the benefit that it you do need to go, you can "jump the queue" to some extent as you'll have a referral behind you (at least, that's been my experience when I've called for DC)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/10/2025 22:24

The numbness could be a sign of a more serious problem cauda equina syndrome where there is pressure on nerves from a bulging disc.

That is an emergency that requires A&E. The only way to know if that is what you have is to get checked ASAP

That’s interesting and not our experience. Local children’s hospital said they don’t allow 111referrals to jump the queue but consider everyone equally once at the door. Guess it depends on area.

Strongstuff · 25/10/2025 22:38

If Cauda equina is suspected you'll be prioritised in any case. Please 111 to talk through best course of action.

petitpasta · 25/10/2025 22:39

Ex A&E nurse here. Go to A&E tonight. Those are not symptoms to ignore and time is of the essence.

I do a fair bit of eye rolling when I hear what people go to A&E for but not in your case.

Hopefully it will be nothing, but it could be serious if left.

SmoothCollie · 25/10/2025 22:43

Go to A&E, I wouldn't mess about with 111 just go.

Eggybreadwithnuts · 25/10/2025 23:01

I called 111 the other night around 10pm got a call back within 15 mins

My initial thought and that would make it an emergency. I hope you got good advice and care OP .

Strongstuff · 26/10/2025 10:52

Hope you're okay @Whattodonowadays?

Please tell us you've been to A&E?
