To ask, has anyone here had a tummy tuck?

I have lost weight, nearly 5 stone. I’m looking and feeling great (well, other than menopausal tiredness which is knocking me for six) but am still overweight and would like to lose a couple of stone more.
My stomach looks awful. Years of not looking after myself and pregnancy. I have an apron/overhang that I suspect won’t go away. It is also kind of puckered. The tops of my legs aren’t great either.
Basically, despite my weight loss achievement, I look like a melted candle!
I’m not big into exercise and fitness, especially as I’ve recently taken on a weekend job to supplement my earnings. So I have work on 7 days a week (only a few hours at the weekend). I do a bit of walking and that’s it.
I am happily single and have overhauled my eating/lost weight for my own benefit, not a man’s. But the thought of one day maybe getting naked in front of someone … 😱
Anyway, back to my original question, have you had a tummy tuck and did it help? How much time did you need off work and how much did the procedure cost? Was the recovery period difficult and/or painful?
Thank you 🙏

I did, in 2022 I think it was.

It cost £6k and it was and still is the best money I have ever spent.

I also had an apron of skin which, when I was sitting, laid out over the tops of my legs like a blanket. It felt disgusting and alien and it took over my thinking every minute of every day.

I spent one night in hospital which wasn’t too bad, then the first week home was…pretty grim. You have to sleep sitting up for quite a number of weeks and I found that very uncomfortable.

I got an infection when my dressings came off, which took maybe 6-8 weeks to heal and was quite hard to deal with, but the aftercare privately was exceptional and they looked after me as an outpatient very well.

I started working from home four days later which maybe wasn’t the best idea, and was able to drive after about 2-3 weeks.

I have a scar which goes all the way round my hips on both sides; it sits very low and you can see it if I wear high waisted bikini bottoms, but the fact that I happily wear a bikini more than outweighs that.

After the op I lost another few stone and have pretty much kept it off; everything has changed for me with my increased confidence. I’ve taken career opportunities and I’ve separated from my husband, and I now have a wonderful younger very handsome partner who thinks I am amazing 🤷‍♀️

It was honestly the best thing I ever did; my life is very different because it gave me the confidence to become the woman underneath that awful, alien thing I was living with.

Really interesting that your newfound confidence affected you in so many more ways than just how you look. I never thought of it like that before.
Thanks for sharing.

Sure. I wasn’t the most fun thing but I’d do it again in a heartbeat knowing what I know now.

I also had lipo on my waist so now I have actual curves too and I feel quite womanly and sexy, although I’ll still never be skinny I don’t think that matters at all.
