To own 40 pairs of shoes?

Remodelling the wardrobes and DH thinks so!

I've a lot of shoes too.

I usually buy good quality but in the sales mainly.

It's 20 years worth of shoes so max, one-two new pairs a year. I throw out broken, uncomfortable ones etc and get them repaired too.

Your choice, your money, your feet. No one else's business.

Lochnesslassie · 23/10/2025 18:05

Your wardrobe must be the size of an entire bedroom!!

I have . . . .

1 x Brown boots
1 x Black boots
1 x Trainers
1 x Sandals
1 x Slippers

BUT . . . . I am no longer allowed to enter any retail facility that sells bags or purses

dontlikethings · 23/10/2025 18:10

Contrary to my user name, I have around the same number of pairs of shoes/boots, some of which I have never worn. They, along with bags and clothes, bring me joy.

Mairzydotes · 23/10/2025 18:26

I don't think 40 pairs is that excessive. I once had 100 pairs , but they were all cheap ones from places like Priceless Shoes and Primark.

I have between 25 and 30 now , but I try to buy better.

freedo · 23/10/2025 18:29

I have more than that & that's after a lot of culling!

freedo · 23/10/2025 18:31

Mine aren't cheap though.

UpMyself · 23/10/2025 18:35

Neither are mine.

40? Amateur. Lol

Exactly. 40 is barely entry level. You don’t qualify as a shoe lover until you reach at least 3 figures.

As for the people who “can’t imagine having that many pairs”, they clearly lack imagination. Their loss.

How rich and beautiful you must be

What is the point of this comment?

BIossomtoes · 23/10/2025 18:37

You’re an amateur @ClarissR. I have well over 100 pairs. You must try harder!

What is the point of yours?

freedo · 23/10/2025 18:40

My downfall is sandals & trainers as I wear these most days.

freedo · 23/10/2025 18:40

@ohyesido how do shoes relate to how beautiful someone is?

I guess you don’t get the concept of irony

TheatricalLife · 23/10/2025 18:44

I've got well over 100 pairs, but the majority are in the roof boxed up. They are from my pre-children days of clubbing and office work (where it was normal to wear heels daily) and though I doubt I will wear most of them again, I can't stand to get rid of them.
I've got about 16 pairs either downstairs to wear or in my wardrobe, and most are trainers and boots.

Clarabell77 · 23/10/2025 18:44

That much choice would make my brain hurt and I’d probably only wear a few pairs on rotation anyway. Project 33 has been a godsend for me, but each to their own.

freedo · 23/10/2025 18:45

@ohyesido well that makes even less sense 😆😆

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 23/10/2025 18:45

I once worked with a woman who always wore fab shoes. She once admitted to me she had at least 120 pairs which she kept in their boxes along the walls in her bedroom.

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 23/10/2025 18:48

Well they're not all shoes?
Some boots.
Some trainers.
Some wellies.
So if l add mine up including slippers?
Let's see.
6 pairs of sketchers trainers.
4 pairs of Ankle boots.
2 pairs knee boots.
1 pairs of mid calf boots.
8 pairs of sandals ( l go abroad and lot)
4 pairs of sliders.
4 pairs of ballet/ mary Jane shoes.
2 pairs of suede wedge loafer type .
And my guilty pleasure ...
11 pairs of slippers. 😶
Exactly 40.
Normal to me.
Had many more when younger.
Heels and stilettos.
Platforms etc.
Im now 66.
Apart from the Slippers.
And Skecher trainers.
They are all Clarks.
Roll on the January sales.
( Some I've got from Vinted) Skechers .. 3 pair l bought in sales abroad).

ImogenBrocklehurst · 23/10/2025 19:41

I think I probably have about two hundred and fifty pairs. I look after my shoes and rarely throw them away. So no, YANBU.

NeedWineNow · 23/10/2025 20:22

Only 40???

Edited

Now you mention it no, I don't have any actual shoes, just footwear as you say.

The last time I had proper shoes was for a wedding. That was pre covid. I wore them once then sold them on eBay

UpMyself · 24/10/2025 08:01

@HundredMilesAnHour , I don't have many pairs of shoes either. I have boots, sandals, slippers, trainers, wellington boots etc

TheKeatingFive · 24/10/2025 08:15

Yeah I'd easily have that many and I don't consider myself to be a 'shoe' person particularly. Naturally there are some I would wear very rarely, but if the storage space is there I don't see an issue.
