I thought reposting the 'Gaza golden statue' video was the worst it would get, but there was more to come..

Defenders always say he's just being down with online youth culture- sure. But is that what the President should be doing? 🙄

At least this kind of bizarre behaviiue will have to end in 2028.

I was actually feeling more positive about Trump given he appears to have brought a ceasefire. It's beyond me why he can act sensibly in thar kind of situation but then continue this toddler behaviour back home...

The world/humanity is a spectacle to be laughed at.

The whole thing is a farce.

It can certainly feel that way sometimes...

Still we can't give way to 'bread and circuses' mindset. If people just sit around laughing at whatever bad thing is happening, how do we improve anything?

It reminds me of the public reaction to Tiger King, where people seemed weirdly dazzled by Joe Exotic's craziness & rooting for him, whereas Carol Baskin was widely disliked. Both seemed to be unpleasant to say the least, but my point is that Exotic's documented animal abuse and endangerment of his workers seemed to be overlooked or even excused to many by his outrageous charisma.

More broadly, I think the internet has encouraged people to treat real life like a TV show. People performed for reality shows, then that was extended to SM. It's significant that Trump has background in reality TV.

But they did elect him.

And TooBigForMyBoots, youmust have observed different protests to the ones broadcast here.

As I understand, they were mostly peaceful protests with people bringing children along.

It's not like it was an armed mob trying to cause an insurrection and violently overthrow the government and democratic will of the American people, like in January 2021.

OonaStubbs · 24/10/2025 23:40

If people didn't like Trump posting memes etc he wouldn't be President because he wouldn't have got the votes.

I know very well that a lot of people like it, that's what I'm criticising. Standards are sinking faster & faster.

You have to remember that that was an AI post. It’s not reaity

PurpleAxe · 25/10/2025 01:46

I think there is a cultural revolution going on. Just not the one you/the Left wanted.

Gilgogirl · 25/10/2025 01:48

And freaking everyone wants to be on reality show and the reason is is bc they pay them big money to be publicly shown as clowns. I find it embarrassing but it’s not just in America. I believe the UK started all the dance and voice and reality shows and then America followed the lead

Gilgogirl · 25/10/2025 01:49

Simon cowell anyone.

fathomsdeep2025 · 24/10/2025 02:30

Yep. And at least he has a sense of humour.

(As we are not allowed to think anything positive about Trump at all according to the "Be Kind" mob, I will wait to be screamed at and told "Yes, well I don't consider it funny that he...."

Personally I could never bring myself to think anything positive about sex offenders.

But some folk have no bar to raise.

Gilgogirl · 25/10/2025 02:15

This a perfect example of people saying things about information that they have no proof of of if it’s real or not. Who decided that trump did. I really doubt, I mean, I think a jerk but he’s a freaking smart jerk but just bc someone puts something on the internet and accuses somebody of something doesn’t make it true.

Gilgogirl · 25/10/2025 02:17

People need a reality check. Just bc someone says someone did something. Where’s the proof. This is like high school bullying to me. She said, you said, he said, they said. What a bunch of crap. Get real facts before saying anything

Obviously Trump isn't actually dumping poo from a jet (though who knows nowadays)

My point is that it's completely inappropriate for him to repost. Just like the Gaza golden statue repost was

It's been widely reported in the MSM. Trump's minions have spoken about it.

You are in fact allowed to think positive things about Trump and even say them. But then other people criticize you because they, believe it or not, also have the right to express their opinions. And then you convince yourself that your freedom of speech is somehow being suppressed. Or at least that is the typical sequence.
What many people seem not to understand is that while you have the right to free speech, you do not have the right to be liked or respected for that speech.

Excellent point. "Not allowed to say..." Basically means that someone doesn't like what I am saying and it annoys me.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 25/10/2025 07:02

playstupidgameswinstupidprizes · 23/10/2025 03:08

Meh. They had a "No kings" protest, based on the weird notion that he's their king when in fact he is their elected president.

People made memes, not him, and he found them funny and shared them.

Can't bring myself to give a shit, whether dumped from a plane or not.

Really? You really think this is behaviour appropriate for a president of the USA?

Very low standards.

Iwanttoliveinagardencentre · 25/10/2025 07:07

Those who think this behaviour is appropriate from a leader are his Maga fans.
They like crass vulgarity. Otherwise he wouldn’t be president.

OonaStubbs · 25/10/2025 14:56

Who decides on what "appropriate behaviour" of the US president should be? The voters? Or someone else?

Maybe it's the other politicians that are out of touch with the public?

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/10/2025 15:44

The American people voted for Putin's Puppet and they're going to have to live with it. Let's hope the Constitution is strong enough to keep him in check.🫣

It's the standard Reform/Maga thing, vaguely threatening language suggesting some enormous uprising of the right and a return to 'Christian Values' etc.

The thing they miss is the UK is not the USA and it won't take off the same, however much hatred they whip up against immigrants. The Welsh byelection gives an indicator of where things are going. Reform have all the support they are going to get, there are no 'undecided voters' heading their way.

This. The one Reform member in the Senedd was not elected as Reform, she is a defector from the Tories.

I'm not denying it's funny. But that's not the only thing it is.

This isn't about a 'Be Kind Mob' 🙄 Obviusly Trump is a complex person, his presidency had some good achievements (prime one may be if he can hold the Gaza ceasefire)

But it's dangerous for woke oversensitivity to be conflated with any criticism of Trump. I won't go into his negative traits now, aside from one.

His extreme closeness with Epstein and subsequent cover up. THAT alone makes him unfit for his role.

It seems that people are essentially saying that they're resigned to politicians being bad, so they'd rather have one who's openly and amusingly bad.

But world leaders shouldn't be spectacles to laugh at. We should not be resigned to them being a source of entertainment at best. Yes, it's funny. It's also a depressing indictment of politics today, that people in general are so jaded that this outlandish behaviour is seen as the best we can hope for.

Trump was not "extremely close" to Epstein.

RingoJuice · 25/10/2025 17:29

It’s crass, didn’t really see the point.

Do I regret voting for him? Absolutely fucking NOT
