To have too many E-readers

As a lifelong reader I tried a kindle years ago and hated it. Loved the physicality of books and thought id never change. But then i got one as a gift - a paperwhite 11th edition and im so hooked I’ve bought the 12th edition in a different colour and revitalised my son’s old oasis. That’s one for upstairs one for downstairs and one for my bag! I can’t imagine buying another book! Anyone else out there completely converted?

I have a Kobo and borrow lots of books from the library.

I tend to have a few books on the go at one time and I find it harder to keep track of them on e-readers because I don't always see the covers. I find myself getting stories muddled up. I never have that with a physical book because the cover picture is right there.

I upgraded to a colour Kobo recently and the cover pictures are better. Because they're coloured obviously:)

So I have 2 e-readers. I should ditch the black and white one. I don't need 2.

I have a 7in Amazon Fire tablet. Kindle books, and can also borrow library books. I like having the option to download a sample of a Kindle book to see if I'll like it.

New fiction I wait until there's a 99p offer.

Nonfiction in my own field I still like to buy hardback books, though.

Yeah, me too. I do still prefer paper books for photo-heavy art and craft books, or for references (though with the Internet, I rarely use reference books now). For fiction, digital all the way.

I don't like that Amazon no longer allows you to download your ebooks to your computer. (Or at least I heard that they were stopping that, but I haven't checked into it since then.) For that reason and a couple others (primarily annoying syncing issues that remove non-Amazon-purchased books when I connect to wifi), I'd rather have a Kobo, but my current Kindle is nearly new and should last years to come. With sales and trade-ins, it was just too good a deal to pass up, but next time...

ETA: I did briefly consider jailbreaking my Kindle to get past the irritation syncing thing, but I never went through with it. I don't have to connect to wifi very often, so it hasn't annoyed me enough (yet) to do anything drastic.

You still cant beat browsing in a bookshop, I could do that for hours

True. But Goodreads is a close digital second

I have an extensive collection of books and will always add to that, but I own a kindle and have the kindle app on my phone. I found it so much easier for reading while the children were babies and I was doing the night feeds. I also find it more convenient for holidays.

America allow you to use kindle with library loans. There are a few libraries in America that allow out of state membership for about $50 a year. If you sign up as a member then you can upload library e-books from them onto your kindle.

Love my kindle. But still also buy and read actual book - for some reason more so in darker months when it just feels cosier to sit with an actual book.

i also like to try and recycle so a charity shop book which can then be passed on to others feels better somehow!
