Leaving a good paying job for opening a coffee shop

There's a shop which is empty at my local high street and there are 3 restaurants and shops like Greggs, cake shop and dominos but no coffee shop where people can have a sit down grab a coffee and cake.
I am a working mum of 2 little kids - 1 and 4 years old. I earn more than 70k and have a good pension. I have been working for over 15 years and have opportunities to go up in the career ladder.
I feel like my priorities have changed so much after having kids.
Problem is I am not a baker myself so I will have to employ people. My work gives me flexibility but I want to run a business. I am into Tech so no experience of this.
Should I still consider it or scrap?

Agree especially at their price point.

There a Greggs in my town centre, plus 4 ( or 5?) coffee shops. I agree with those advising you should do it slowly but you can absolutely have a successful business even though there’s a Greggs. Some people just won’t go to a Greggs so your shop would be an option for them or those who want an alternative. Greggs are still behind the times in terms of Gluten free/ dairy free ( only oat/soy) options.

All the best, OP.

I will also say though that when the children are that young, it’s normal to feel like you’re feeling.

Maybe a business that includes a coffee shop as that alone wouldn't make much of a profit.
There's a shop nearby me that does pottery painting with a small coffee counter inside.
The money comes from selling the rather marked up pottery as well as drinks/cake alongside.
All the big chains of shops/cafes ect started small with just one premises it's just finding the right market at the right time but unfortunately the cost of living crisis is really hindering new business

Wise call Op, it’s bonkers. But hold on to the idea of doing something different, perhaps alongside your main job. A lady I know runs craft clubs for kids. Hiring a church hall, advertises on Facebook buying craft supplies and guiding kids in making seasonal stuff for an hour. Her kids join in. Mums hang about and have a coffee.
