My mind is blown. How did I not know that there is no standard sizing.

I have either been living under a rock (possible) or have been gaslit by the bedding and manchester (Aussie term) industry for 50+ years.

I get UK sizes may vary with AU sizes, but I did not know that IKEAS are one size and in department stores (it is completely pot luck).

Every year, we have an existential bedding crisis at the great summer/winter doona/duvet swap out. The covers don't fit.

So this year I measured them and realised the rookie error I have made.

Mind is quite warped by this discovery. Am I. The only person on the planet who didn't know this???

YANBU - agree that mismatched size standards are batshit.

My single duvets are Swiss, bought while living there. They are 160 x 210 cm.... Can I get covers to fit in the UK? No.

I’ve never seen this… single, double and now super king- all the correct covers fit all their respective duvets!

I measure all my duvets and covers when I get them. I might alter them to fit if they’re a bit too big and I can be bothered.

I always sew a loop of coloured ribbon on the corner that matches the size so a Double duvet, cover or sheet is Orange ribbon, SuperKing is Purple ribbon etc.

I have a lot of white fitted sheets and DH relies on the ribbon colour when he’s changing beds.
