Not being truthful about room allocation for holiday

Looking at booking an all inclusive holiday through Tui. We need two rooms; one for 2 adults and our 2 children (13 & 9) and one for one single adult.

If I change the room allocation to 2 adults + 1 child (9) and one adult + 1 child (13), the total price of the holiday drops (by £600). It looks like the room type stays the same for both options. So could anyone explain to me why this is and also, whether it would even be an issue if we did this please?
Thanks.

I would guess because they can claim a single occupancy premium if there is one adult in one room

Because there’s a surcharge for single occupancy rooms?

I'd book it the cheaper way, though bear in mind you might not have the beds made up exactly as you'd like. Would it be possible to have this arrangement, at least for one night - ie one of the kids in with the single adult?

Single occupancy and yes I definitely would do it!

I’d absolutely do it. We always booked with my parents and it was significantly cheaper to book 2 rooms for 2 adults & 1 child and get 2 free child places. We just upgraded at least one room to the type we wanted and reorganised ourselves. The hotels were never bothered in the slightest

Aah, ok, thanks. I think i tried putting the details in lile this previously, but it didnt make a difference to the price. Maybe it's because DD will be 13 rather than 12 and that makes a difference.

We can certainly try to convince DD to go in with Grandma for a night or two, I know my DM would quite like the company! Not sure about for the full 2 weeks though.

Single occupancy surcharge only makes up the cost per person to the cost of the room, so it shouldn’t be that
