To welcome Cardiff Council's proposed higher parking charges for larger/heavier cars

Cardiff council are planning to have higher parking charges for larger/heavier vehicles (so including most SUVs). I welcome this, wish it was the case everywhere, though a second best option to the separate driving test I would prefer.

AIBU to welcome this?

So charge EVs a premium.

Interesting one.

Cardiff City Council are legends for this! Nobody needs an SUV in a big city!

And if you live outside, you can get the train into the centre, the public transport links are great. Or pay for the extra space your car takes up in the car park.

The trend towards larger and larger cars has to stop. UK roads cannot cope. It's not just the weight, it's the space they take up. You can't see round them either which makes the roads less safe.

You don't need an SUV necessarily as a blue badge holder either - people have different needs. I'd expect any blue badge holder to either get free parking or more time if they have to pay.

Haha, they are pretty big. I'm a sucker for large cars, but what they've done to Mini is a travesty.

Aren’t they now classed as a supermini even though there still called Mini? Lime Jukes.

I'm afraid I don't know. They are just not Mini.

Yes some cars are far too big today.

Oh please!

There are 35 million drivers in the UK and less that one percent are involved any accidents. The "smaller car you hit" is nonsense. If the driver of a "small car" was really worried about such an event, they could just buy a bigger car themselves. They don't, because it's a non issue.

So ignorant. Just buy a bigger car???? Many people, including me cannot possibly afford anything like that. I have a small cheap car because it's what I can afford. Cheaper to insure, run, buy. Fuck off with your ridiculous, entitled statements. Of course bloody big cars should pay more. Good on Cardiff.
