To think that geese are not for kicking?

Today by the river a woman was feeding the geese and ducks with her kids. The birds were getting quite frisky and close - but instead of backing off herself and chucking down the breadcrumbs for them to eat, this woman just shouted "go away, go away, I said, go away" as if the geese could understand, and when they did not "go away" she kicked at them. All in front of her small children and mine who were thankfully far enough away not to notice (I hope) and far more engrossed in watching the birds around them.

Im cruel and this made me chuckle, sorry

I refuse to take my dc to our big park as we get chased by the little buggers and they peck!!!

But in answer to your question yanbu

NoBiggy · 04/06/2008 23:02

Dr Doolittle loses her touch.

Extraordinary.

(YANBU, BTW.)

Saturn74 · 04/06/2008 23:02

Geese are vicious, evil buggers.
They'll turn up mob handed at the kicky womans' house in the early hours of the morning, and peck her eyes out.
And nick her purse.
They will get their revenge.

madamez · 04/06/2008 23:03

Depends if the kick connected or not. Canada geese can be a bit thuggish and (from a toddler point of view) they are quite big and scary. I have never kicked one but have fended one or two gently off with a leg (we had no bread but they were still mobbing us and DS was terrified).

harpomarx · 04/06/2008 23:04

great thread title.

'geese are not for kicking' sounds like like a surreal title for a film, a bit like 'They Shoot Horses don't they'

WowOoo · 04/06/2008 23:05

Revenge on poor me probably!
I have 'had it' from one nasty goose boy/girl once on the leg!! Never again. Throw food from safe distance and run, run run!

cocolepew · 04/06/2008 23:07

My DD slapped a chicken once.

iliketosleep · 04/06/2008 23:10

is it really bad that im pmsl to dd slapped a chicken and revenge of the geese

harpomarx · 04/06/2008 23:10

would have thought slapping a chicken was a bit unsatisfying, coco - don't they just kind of lean and shrink as your hand approaches them?

or did dd hold the chicken down?

cocolepew · 04/06/2008 23:12

I don't think the chicken was expecting it,TBH .

The look on it's face was priceless.

harpomarx · 04/06/2008 23:13

do chickens have expressions, coco?

you are making my mind boggle!

iliketosleep · 04/06/2008 23:16

close to wetting myself hehe

cocolepew · 04/06/2008 23:17

Well it looked a bit stunned and wobbled. We still take the mickey out of DD 7 years after the assault (and battery hen)

Sorry, couldn't resist that

Geese seeking revenge by pecking her eyes out and pinching her purse isn't funny???

must be my hormones

iliketosleep · 05/06/2008 00:31

actually i've just thought about this in a serious manner and have come to this conclusion.....

If a human hit another human, its assult, you can get arrested for it...

If a dog bit a human in a vicious manner then the dog would be put to sleep...

sooooooooooo

If a group of nasty geese, and lets face it, we are talking about big geese not tiny robins, started surrounding you until you feel overpowered, then i think you have every right to boot them up the arse. Although the OP didn't say they were kicked, she said that the woman kicked out at them.......

thats my thoughts anyway, although myself personally i run like the wind

NoBiggy · 05/06/2008 00:36

You remove yourself and your children if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable. You don't try to violently impose your will on a goose. Crackpot.

that chicken story was hysterical .. I've been chortling away

geese need kicking, I've seen them attack toddlers before, and they're really vicious.
