It's not really any different to Disney prints. I don't find the pose bad but the expression on her face is a bit grown up.

MinPinSins · 13/10/2025 14:43

Huh? It's a t-shirt for kids with a popular kids TV show. I agree it's fast fashion, and i don't shop at Zara for that reason, but I don't understand why you'd be bothered by this in particular?

FrippEnos · 13/10/2025 14:46

I suspect that the pose is because if she had her arms down you wouldn't be able to read the print.

Bitzee · 13/10/2025 14:54

What’s the objection? It’s a baggy tshirt, I think the pose is so you can read it and Zara does a lot of collabs e.g. Disney, Monster Jam, Wednesday etc.

BauhausOfEliott · 13/10/2025 15:05

It's a clothing brand trying to sell clothes - its whole business is consumerism. This is no more ridiculous than any other form of consumerism. It's a product aimed at people who like something. So what?

I genuinely don't know what the issue is with the kid's pose?! It's a child wearing a t-shirt.

BauhausOfEliott · 13/10/2025 15:10

the expression on her face is a bit grown up

What? Why? Because she's not smiling? It is a child with a neutral expression and if you see something adult or inappropriate about a child who isn't smiling, that's on you I'm afraid.

I could understand your concerns if she was pouting and smouldering and licking her lips FFS but her expression is just neutral. Children don't have to grin like chimps to be children.

Thanks for this thread- I've seen these hoodies around and was wondering where they were from as DD loves K Pop Demon Hunters.

What exactly about children (read: little girls) being excited about a story about self-expression, acceptance and empowerment and wanting to celebrate that with their clothing choices is upsetting you?

You have not started similar threads about any other fandom, despite the fact that you can buy merchandise for them, so why have you specifically picked up this one?

BantheQuo · 13/10/2025 15:23

Zara is a clothes shop.

They sell clothes with the goal of making a profit.

How does this differ from a T-shirt with Stitch on, or any other fictional character? What makes this rampant consumerism?

EgregiouslyOverdressed · 13/10/2025 15:26

That is an exceptionally normal pose by Zara standards, which are famously mad.

Mostly coz I watched it at the weekend, haha. DH and I have been talking about how it is everywhere!!! I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the pose it was him who thought it was weird when I showed him and I agreed.

I actually love the story line of it. I guess I have a problem with fast fashion though and I feel like merchandise is the worst, but that’s me. Just wanted to see what other people thought. 🙂

Im not getting that.
Its just neutral, not goofy or trying to seductive- just normal.

Im not getting ops concern either.
Demon hunter is hugely popular with kids at the moment abd kids like to wear associated merc. Its no different to Harry Potter or even band t shirts.

Notagain75 · 13/10/2025 15:28

Why is it worse than a hoodie with Disney characters on it or super heros or any other film/TV /book merchandise?. I actually think it looks a lot nicer than a lot of the Disney merchandise I've seen.

liveforsummer · 13/10/2025 15:33

Clothes shops sell clothes that people want to buy. Millions of dc will currently be wanting k pop items so Zara is providing them. The pose is fine. Probably meant to represent one of the dance moves from the songs or something

Snorlaxo · 13/10/2025 15:44

There is merch for every popular kids franchise. I don’t think that this is any worse than Marvel, Minecraft, Disney Princess… You could argue that a deal with Zara keeps the cost of the top more reasonable therefore more accessible to as many kids as possible.

Considering the long history of Zara models in weird poses, I expected something weirder than hands behind head as if in a dance move.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 13/10/2025 15:50

What a strange thread. Disney as pp say have been doing this for decades. How many products do you think have Elsa on them? Hundreds I'd guess maybe 1000s from socks and underwear to toys to scooters. And Paw Patrol are on yoghurts sold in supermarkets ffs. Harry Potter is on bedlinen and pencils along with every type of clothing. This level of merchandising isn't new at all.

MidnightPatrol · 13/10/2025 15:58

Is it this particular programme, or merchandise in general?

As there is masses and masses of merchandised clothing etc aimed at kids. Minecraft, Paw Patrol, Peopa Pig etc

Snorlaxo · 13/10/2025 16:01

Is this annoying you because your child wants a top (or the whole range if there’s other merch?)

NannyOgg1341 · 13/10/2025 16:25

Ooh my DD will love this and I'm going to get it her for Christmas! Consumerism it might be, but k-pop demon hunters has some catchy tunes and it's no worse than them wanted a my little pony on the front.

whatevenwasthat · 13/10/2025 16:37

Fan merch has been available for basically every form of entertainment for, well, ever.

I’m more bothered that I can’t pick up some basic toddler clothing from supermarkets without Micky fucking mouse being plastered all over it but that’s on me. I don’t actually see what the issue is.

Totally agree with you that fast fashion is gross 😞However, I'd say that this is more "fandom" than merchandise, if that makes sense? To me it seems no different from a band t-shirt, it's folks wearing something that lets other people know what they're into.

I'm biased because my husband's into quite a niche rock scene and wears a lot of band t-shirts, it's definitely been an ice-breaker for him with other guys if they're into the same niche bands!

Yeah, I guess you could be right. Zara did a collab for Disney recently as well. Can’t help but feel a lot of it will end up in landfill once the hype is over!

Merchandise in general I think! I like this movie. Not sure it warrants a top that a kid will wear for a couple years until they decide they don’t like it anymore or it’s not cool. 🤷‍♀️

Do your kids not grow and/or play? The very few things my daughter hasn't outgrown within 2 years is going to be stained, possibly torn, and otherwise destroyed. Especially if it was one of her favourites.
