i always prefer people who want to sit and eat a pud - it gives you more time to chat

i think it is normal to mention this at the start of a meal so you all know whats going on, especially when short of time, or you are going to split the bill

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 18:53

I would announce equally self-righteously "well I AM"

maidamess · 04/06/2008 18:53

I never have a starter...I wnat to save room for my pudding. I don't like 'no pudding ' people.

nametaken · 04/06/2008 18:54

I hate people who have starters, thus making me wait for food.

zippitippitoes · 04/06/2008 18:55

i just dont eat pudding as a general rule

i couldnt eat a starter and pudding thats for sure

i will have one or the other tho

or a liquer with coffee

i usually qush the self righteous aspect by indulging in wine generously

claricebeansmum · 04/06/2008 18:55

I am always the one having the chocolate fudge cake but then I don't drink coffee so it gives me something to do whilst they all slurp away

I have no self control over stuffed mushrooms or chocolate fudge cake

FrannyandZucchini · 04/06/2008 18:57

I want a puding NOW

zippitippitoes · 04/06/2008 18:58

there is often nothing i like the look of in restaurants

i always have the feeling i am going to be disappointed

but then i have never been anywhere really posh/decent

stleger · 04/06/2008 19:02

I don't like restaurant reviews where 'we went straight to coffee'. I only have starters and mains because I have to so I get afters.

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:03

No
it is up to individuals what they eat or drink, not you! It is not them making you feel bad, it is in your head

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:04

really zippi?
You MUST

SNoraWotzThat · 04/06/2008 19:09

I'm always thankful that someone else is making it and washing up, so yes I enjoy each course and use each item of cutlery and every glass on show.

If you are on a diet, stay at home.
Comments like "oh I couldn't have that!"
Well feck off "I'll have yours and mine then"! springs to mind.

Only eat with me if you want to try everything. Its about enjoying the evening, not just choosing one course and sipping coffee!

SNoraWotzThat · 04/06/2008 19:10

ummm food, and good company, I should get out more.

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:11

But it isn't if you aren't the sort of person who enjoys stuffing their face till they feel sick

I can't bear feeling over full, it makes me feel physically ill. I only like eating til I am just full

I am a natural grazer so I will eat something later. But I can't sit down and eat 3 courses in a restaurant if they are big. I have been known to eat 8 courses but very small ones!

Why should I stuff my face just because it makes you feel better?

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:11

I go out for dinner once or twice a week - if I did that I would be a whale and feel dreadul most of the time!

SNoraWotzThat · 04/06/2008 19:13

You don't have to stuff your face till you feel sick. You can leave some on the plate. Its about taste and and enjoying the food. Not stuffing yourself senseless. That's not what I meant.

zippitippitoes · 04/06/2008 19:13

well i hope to one day

i am one of those saddos who thinks i could make much nicer food myself and this is terribble value

and why do two people always get put by the toiletsw/coathooks/kitchendoor

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:14

but if I ate 3 courses I would feel sick
what is the point of wasting food?
If I am happy with one or two courses that is my business!

SNoraWotzThat · 04/06/2008 19:14

And I don't go out for dinner once or twice a week, so when I do I want to enjoy it. It's more than just food,, bill, tip and bye.

CD

The best meal, we have ever had was a tasting menu in a hotel Epernay.

We were approaching saturation point, when the same course appeared again.

Turned out the chef felt that we had been short changed on the portions and felt compelled to send it out again.

We felt compelled to inwardly weep.

SNoraWotzThat · 04/06/2008 19:15

Well lets be happy in the knowledge that we won't be dining together

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:17

Aha
but I don't enjoy it if i feel too full!
I don't care what anyone else eats
they can have 15 courses if they want
I am there for the company and to eat as I want to eat.

I have never even considered eating more to make other people feel better just as I am sure they have never considered eating less to make me feel better.

Are you one of these people who always has to go to the loo with someone? I mean we are all individuals, we can make our individual choices, we are not joined at the hip

ComeOVeneer · 04/06/2008 19:17

I had a fabulous trip to Chicago recently, but one evening's trip to a fantastic restaraunt was slightly spoilt by the only other female at our table ordering a plain green salad followed by grilled food, no dessert and water. I as the only other female had raised eyebrows in my direction over the fact that I had a starter (osyters), didn't have my version grilled (it was scallops by the way, same as her's)and with a green salad but a dressing , and no dessert, plus no coffee(mint infision) for me but a double expresso for her!!!

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:18

Starlight that is crap
Just say "actually i am having a starter"

Jeez
you must all go out for dinner with very scary people if you can't just have what you want!
