I know nhs mh services are wofully inadequate. However thought it was more long waiting lists.

my experience was in March work EAP wrote to gp suggesting secondary care support for trauma. Was hoping would be on a waiting list for support however just bounced from service to service gp wont offer meds and an appointment on weds with crisuis team for assessment cancleed. Private providers just not helpingto expect after 6 months would have got onto nhs list for supportto expect after 6 months would have got onto nhs list for support

@Jellycatspyjamas I do have health insurance approval foer 10 sessions of therapy. I appreciate i am fortunate to be in this position but non of the private psychologists I have contacted are prepared to take it on due to complexity and risk. Sorry it sounds like you to have found things difficult.

@CrispsPlease its worth quite a lot to not feel like this but cant get seen.

if I presented at A&E when stuck in trauma cycles of shaking and crying and stuff would they do anything its obviously not an emergency in the sense it eventually stops but nobody seems to know howbad i get. I also really dont want to wait in hospital. But nobody is appreciating I can go days with out showering get too overwhelmed to drink or eat for say 48 hours at a time.

feels they will only listen to self harm.

the Gp thought that crisis team or cmht would assess meds but that referral now isnt happening have bowel related referrals in but dont know when that will be.

But which meds are they caucious about prescribing?

Eatinghurts · 18/10/2025 01:56

@hairgairhair I dont know what meds they are cautious of. I asked the GP if meddication would be a possibility either as a short or long term solution

propraninol lead to feeling dizzy and stomach pains. Possibly due to lowish blood pressure aand low iron.

I asked if i could haveanything for sleep and flagged that had previously foundamitriptilyne good for sleep and possibly the nurve pain and affects on diarrhea would be good but said did not feel comfortable.

i then asked if if they felt comfortable with an AD but they said wanted to get specialist input.

i was given 3 5 mg of diaziam back in july. I used these incredibly sparingly for times where i just couldn’t sleep duebto flashbacks and no amountbof magneseum oil or relaxation was helping and this really helped and i was functioning much better.
