Work and pregnancy

So I need some guidance with something, I’ve been at my current job for 5 years and currently 14 weeks pregnant. Recently got a new manager I do not get on with and has been making me extremely stressed at work as he is not reasonable and denies my antenatal appointments, I am already dealing with severe sickness and post natal depression from when I had my now two year old.
Anyways I want to put in a sick note but need to self certify for a week before I can get a note from doctors , Am I allowed to just go through hr with the self certifying so I don’t need any contact with my current manager? I filled in a form about the self certifying which I am meant to send to an employer also.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Sorry to possibly derail as I don’t know about self certifying but are you in the UK? If so, you have the right to paid time off to attend antenatal appointments. I would raise this with HR and possibly escalate to a grievance if it doesn’t improve.

Thankyou!Yes I’m in the uk, and I have told him this as I also have apps coming up in October but he just keeps saying nothing he can do, he’s has been very weird about me being pregnant and isn’t helpful about anything so I’ve been feeling very uncomfortable and unsure about the next move.

I would go to HR 1st with the issue of him blocking time for your appointments.
yes in theory workplaces can ask you try to schedule them at convenient times like start and end of the day but they can’t stop you going.

Your next move is you tell your manager you're allowed paid time off for antenatal appointments so you'll be out on the following dates/times. Don't phrase it as a request, its advanced notice. You WILL be off, so he can deal with it.
Copy in HR.
