they are into sports and dd loves skincare etc. but they have so much in finding it hard to justify more 😆😆
give me ideas..anything at all…I beg you!!

I have asked them and they don’t know either…so they are no help 😂

There's always one 🙄 the other boards get hardly any attention compared to "AIBU". Do you go round posting this type of comment on every post that doesn't technically belong here? Give over.

GarlicBreadStan · 10/10/2025 12:15

For your DD - a skincare organiser, a little bag filled with "sample sized" products and little things like headbands, hair clips, or applicators for skin care products?

In terms of sport-related things for your DS, I don't know much about sports, to be completely honest with you 😅

What do they actually want?

If they have plenty of stuff, experiences and treats day to day, they might not be bothered about huge impressive 'look how much I love my DC' piles of presents people boast about on social media.

They're past the age of believing in Santa and old enough to start understanding about money being finite and how not spending today, especially on things not wanted or needed means it will be available to spend later.

So talk to them. They might be happier with a few small, low cost, well chosen gifts plus money to spend later, save until see something they want or perhaps buy them experiences like annual passes, theme parks, Go Ape or a day out at a water park or similar.

They don’t really know either…hence my looking for suggestions 😩 dd is definitely passed believing, not sure about ds though…

If you join the Christmas bargains thread it moves very quickly at this time of year and we share all sorts of ideas and bargains- it think we are already on to thread 5 and about to start thread 6, several pages get posted each day of bargains, vouchers and ideas. You'd be most welcome!

However.....if your kids have lots of stuff already I would definitely say stick with consumables or nicer versions of their everyday stuff.

Nicer shampoo and conditioner in the stocking, a Byoma starter set for the tween, personalised shin pads for them, vouchers for local coffee shop if that's their thing, lighted mirror, family game, event tickets and memorabilia to go with it....

3luckystars · 10/10/2025 12:50

Tickets to a show or concert.

Voucher to go away for the day together somewhere. Harry Potter Studios?

Books

CrownCoats · 10/10/2025 12:50

Vouchers for things they can do. Cinema, rock climbing, go karting etc etc.

It’s not that they have lots of stuff, they just seem to have all the main big things as such. Dd does have lots of skincare stuff etc. that she is working her way through. I get her good shampoo (kerastase brand) as it is as I wanted her hair to stay healthy.

she could do with more clothing but I feel like that’s not a main Christmas gift as such. AirPods is an idea as she needs new ones…others aren’t AirPods and the case is broken . I might look at a weekend away idea.

ds has a scooter, bike, PlayStation etc. will get him a Lego set or two.

Ds has loads of books to work through at the moment so I can’t justify it, dd would rather poke needles in her eyes than read 😆😆

harry potter studios is a good shout!! They would enjoy that!

Something to do with archery? Slightly different but fun alone or with others. Taster trial, home set?

They wouldn’t be too into this I don’t think. Thank you though.

I have dd11 and ds9. She’s getting lots of craft stuff. No way would I encourage her to have expensive skincare. Could you encourage some sort of healthy non screen hobby? Mine loves cross stitch. Lots of cute kits and easy to get started. She listens to audiobooks while doing them. So nice headphones and a subscription? A DIY terrarium was a birthday hit and is a nice mindfulness activity. She’ll also get t shirts and new claw clips.

DS wants the latest football kit for his team, football cards and fancier studded boots than I would get him. Not much help unless yours also likes football I guess!

New onesies, cosy scarves, slipper boots and blankets generally go down well too. Maybe our house is just cold though!

Moonnstars · 10/10/2025 13:16

My son is a bit older and he wants
Lego creeper set
A laminator (random I know)
Guinness world records book
Minecraft annual
His birthday is just before Christmas and he is getting a phone.

My daughter is a bit younger (so these ideas might not interest yours)
Squishmallows
Craft sets (bead bracelet maker)
Bingo game
Colouring book and nice pens

It's definitely harder as they get older as they want fewer things as they don't play with toys, but you still feel like you want them to have things to open.

Edited

Dd is 12 nearly 13…she plays 3 sports at a competitive level. And other sports in school. She is busy as it is with those hobbies. She needs new boots to be honest so I could get her those. Crafting is just not her thing anymore to be honest, she did loads when she was younger. She’s all about sports, a bit of skincare and her family and friends.

yeah DS is into football but plays rugby too so will get him done kit etc.

I could get them both slippers actually yes! Onesies are a good shout. They need new ones…although our house is very warm but they’ll still use them.

This is exactly it. The things like annuals etc is great but it’s the main gifts I’m struggling with. It’s so hard as they get older.

@Statsquestion1

They're on their 6th thread since August.

First one here

SparklyBlueDress · 10/10/2025 13:33

Polaroid printer and peg lights for her room
Decent digital camera
Record player and vinyls
Dressing table with Hollywood lights
Make up brush set and cleaning gadget
Oodie
Set of perfume trial size
Teen driving lesson
Band posters and merch
Stuff for room - rugs, cushions, lamp, wax melts, beanbag

I don’t have boys - sorry

Ionlymakejokestodistractmyself · 10/10/2025 13:37

If they're into sports, tickets to their favourite sport or a related experience? New kit?

Theatre tickets or a day out in London at various attractions?

Experiences are good as they don't take up space!

Polaroid printer and peg lights for her room- she has one of these 😅
Decent digital camera- she wouldn’t use this
Record player and vinyls- this is an idea perhaps?…she uses Apple Music on her phone. She like music a lot.
Dressing table with Hollywood lights- she has her own bathroom with a light up mirror so no use.
Make up brush set and cleaning gadget- this is an idea. Thank you!
Oodie- also an idea!
Set of perfume trial size- she has lots already so I’ll wait for her to get through these
Teen driving lesson- she would love this but is she not too young?
Band posters and merch-
Stuff for room - rugs, cushions, lamp, wax melts, beanbag - we have just moved house and she has a whole new room. But she does need a few little bits.
thank you @SparklyBlueDress
