Ffs how have you got to your age without working on some of these skills, and to be honest when I say people, let's be honest it's mainly men

OP posts:

Yes I'm dyslexic, so what, doesn't hold me back

what if they're dyslexic also?

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 09/10/2025 14:54

Is this a reverse?! I’m confused.

OriginalUsername2 · 09/10/2025 14:58

It sounds like OP is saying people need to work on their emotional intelligence. Men not communicating what they think properly and saying “I’m no good with words” as an excuse.

What you’re writing and what we’re reading could be entirely different things!

Well that interpretation makes more sense, maybe OP is just badly worded. It sounds like a post from pedants’ corner criticising other people’s grammar, but if it’s actually relating to men who aren’t good at communicating about their feelings that does put a different spin on it!

Catwalking · 09/10/2025 15:26

pots & kettles 🧐🤪

OriginalUsername2 · 09/10/2025 15:27

Perhaps unskilled was supposed to be up-skill and autocorrected. Then the post is fine.

Second rule of the internet, comment on someone's SPAG and you will stuff it up somehow

That's Muphry for you....

Downplayit · 09/10/2025 15:28

So people who aren't good with the spoken word should work in unskilled jobs. But same doesn't go for the written word because umm... dyslexia. I would have thought you might have more empathy for those who find certain things harder than others!

As others have said, if you're writing about other people's written language, proof read before posting eh.
Your post doesn't actually even make sense!

Honestly, you can infer that from the OP?

I just read it and thought for a minute. Unskilled probably was supposed to be up-skill.

5128gap · 09/10/2025 15:36

Being 'good with words' is not the virtue you may think. Because if you're good enough with them you can use them to charm, manipulate and influence, creating something compelling from very little substance. Far better to speak plainly and with sincerity.

What, doesn’t hold you back from criticising others? Perhaps the people you are criticising are also dyslexic?
Talk about a ridiculous thread 🙄

MaxBeth · 09/10/2025 15:37

How can I be better with words though?

For example, this morning the assistant in the supermarket asked if I wanted a carrier bag and I told her to fuck off. Is that not correct?

That is a very good point. Gaslighting and twisting words - a tactic of emotional abusers.

In what context are you talking about? Professional, Relationship or what context?

Dyslexic or not you can’t start a thread about how people should basically do better when your comment is atrociously written!!

Lets be honest though you just wanted to start a man bashing thread because they usually do well on MN but people haven’t jumped on that yet, I think it got overshadowed by the irony in your post and title

ainsleysanob · 09/10/2025 15:49

It’s amazing that whenever someone makes a tit of themselves SPaG wise they always claim ‘Dyslexia’.

You are not everyone that has literacy issues.
I'm speaking for someone very close to me that struggles with the written word and spoken word at times.

pokewoman · 09/10/2025 17:03

I had to read this more than once to try and understand what you are talking about.

Maybe look at your own skills before slating anyone else first.

A bit of a drip feed.

Is there something specific that leads you to post?

Are you aware dyslexia is more common in men?
