AIBU for not letting my mum take my toddler son out with her friend?

Long story short my mum (59) has a friend (29f). For my own reasons I don’t like this friend. My mum has asked me if she can take my 2 year old son out with her friend for a day at the weekend. I’ve said I don’t really want my son around the friend. My mum has gone in a mood with me. AIBU to not allow my son to go out with them?

It would depend on what reason you have for not liking tjw friend but ultimately if I trust my mum enough with my child I trust her to make the right decisions for my child when they are with her just as she made decisions for me.

Depends why you dont like the friend.

Depends on why you don’t like the friend!

Do you rely on your mum for childcare at other times? If so what is it about the friend that makes you think your mum won't take as good care of your child when the friend is there?

BananaCandle · 08/10/2025 21:25

Why don’t you like your mums friend?

My sisters best friend was blind in one eye because her older sister with mates took her to the park and she was dropped on her head twice
Once going down the kiddie slide
The other when she flew out of the swing
The only reason the parents ever discovered was because of routine checkups
And then eldest came clean saying she hadn't meant for it to happen without a shred of guilt apparently saying that it didn't show anyway
So don't ever just dont.
