Hi all,
I’m worried about my one year old. He seems to drink a hell of a lot of water a day. I’m talking 1 litre plus. Wees a lot but this could just be the fluid intake. During pregnancy i had gestational diabetes with him and I still have my glucose monitor, stupidly I’ve tested him earlier and his level is 3.6. I can’t seem to find accurate info for his age. I’ve phoned 111 and awaiting a call back.

any advice??

take him to your gp or a&e for proper tests. It could be the start of it, or it could maybe not be diabetes at all.

Without any intention to be narky - are they the only symptoms? Do you have anything causing health anxiety? Because your baby is thirsty you're panicking - it seems a little unreasonable.

A 30 second google comes up with:
For healthy infants, the normal blood sugar range is generally 3.5–5.5 mmol/L (63–99 mg/dL),

Gestational diabetes increases the risk of getting type 2 diabetes for YOU it does nothing for the risk for your child.

111 have phoned and 3.6 is low for his age. We are now on our way to hospital. I was told that there is an increased risk for mum and baby.

This is not accurate - gestational diabetes can also increase the risk that the child will develop type 2 diabetes. The better controlled the GD was, the lower this risk is, but the increased risk is always there (though small).

Well done for getting this seen OP - hopefully nothing to worry about but always worth seeking medical input for anything that might be linked to diabetes. Wishing all the best for you.
