My friend's neighbour, a man in his 50s, sent her a message about her DD10. She'd been playing with a group of other kids on their bikes in the close where they live. He said
"You need to watch [child's name]. Puberty and fertility are coming, there's oestrogen in the air and it's drawing in the local boys, even if they don't realise it."

It's weird right?

OP posts:
Newsenmum · 04/10/2025 15:55

is this real?

JustMyView13 · 04/10/2025 15:55

Very.

Newsenmum · 04/10/2025 15:56

I wouldnt let my daughter near him.

Amanitacae · 04/10/2025 15:56

Umm - that’s absolutely grim/terrifying. Her daughter is not safe around him.

Newsenmum · 04/10/2025 15:56

This is what we call ‘pedos acting in plain sight’.

Curledup14 · 04/10/2025 15:56

This is your creepy neighbour you’ve started past threads op

LoftyRobin · 04/10/2025 15:57

I'd immediately ask if he had seen something concerning and then if he hadn't, id estabish that this is his view of my child and therefore he is indeed a creep.

Comedycook · 04/10/2025 15:58

Id be letting him know in no uncertain terms that I'll be watching him very carefully and I'd tell him exactly what I think of him. These types rely on other people's politeness and desire to see the best in people.

Viviennemary · 04/10/2025 15:58

Report this to the police. It's beyond weird. Perhaps he has Dementia.

Sassylovesbooks · 04/10/2025 15:59

It's a very bizarre statement. Was the child playing with a group of boys, who all looked/were older? Some girls are a bit 'Tom boyish' and prefer the company of boys to girls, and riding around on bikes etc.

Suednymph · 04/10/2025 16:00

He is basically saying her milkshake is bringing all the boys to the yard, filthy perverted man should not be thinking of stuff like that let alone saying it. I would be very wary of him.

DorothyStorm · 04/10/2025 16:01

I agree with a couple of pp who said to ask why first. Has he noticed someone watching / hanging around?

Onlyinthrees · 04/10/2025 16:46

I’d be straight on to the police.

wineosaurus4 · 04/10/2025 16:50

Report it to the police ASAP. Horrifying.

JMSA · 04/10/2025 16:53

Very strange indeed.

JLou08 · 04/10/2025 16:55

I'd be reporting that to the police.

BalloonLabboon · 04/10/2025 16:56

If this was a real text message, would you seriously need to ask?

Of course it’s weird.

???

shhblackbag · 04/10/2025 16:56

Utterly inappropriate. So gross that he thought that is OK.

FaceBothered · 04/10/2025 16:57

No, not weird at all OP.

In fact it's completely normal.

What makes you think it isn't?

Hatty65 · 04/10/2025 16:58

Why does this man have her mobile phone number?

Why on earth are you or she asking if this is creepy? I'd have reported him to the police and blocked him from ever contacting me again.

BallerinaRadio · 04/10/2025 16:58

Isn't he just saying her daughter is at an age where boys and girls are discovering each other in new ways, albeit phrased in perhaps the worst way possible?

shhblackbag · 04/10/2025 16:59

Viviennemary · 04/10/2025 15:58

Some men are just perverts and feel entitled to say anything they please. Keep her away from him, OP.

mbosnz · 04/10/2025 16:59

I'd be establishing first, if there was something specific that had aroused his concern.

Either way I'd be asking him if he intended to come across as a possible paedophile. . .

FOJN · 04/10/2025 17:09

Why did people think OP needs to find out if he's noticed something concerning? If he was genuinely concerned he would have sent a very different message.

"Hi OP, I've noticed a few older boys hanging around and behaving a bit inappropriately towards your daughter. I thought you would want to know."

The message he sent screams disgusting pervert. OP doesn't need to take him seriously, she needs to tell him to stay away from her daughter.

Because it is something he may use as a defence later on so it's best to put him on the spot with that one right away. It also covers the.minimal chance that he genuinely thought that was the way to approach it. If it was, I would want to know what he's seen myself.
