Is it to be expected??

Just driving home from a lovely few days away with my mum. It was all great except for the last hotel we stayed in for two nights. There were a litany of issues there but the main one was that both mornings there was no hot water in our room. The first morning the guy in reception was reasonably apologetic, said he'd send someone to have a look and later told us that he'd "fixed it" but the problem was that everyone had been showering around the same time (well, duh, before breakfast??). However this morning when there was no hot water again we were a bit peeved and unfortunately came up against the general manager who would put Basil Fawtly to shame! He offered no apology or discount on our final bill and was insistant that it was not unreasonable for us to not be able to shower "whenever we wanted" in a £200 a night hotel?? His attitude sucked and he was actively smirking during the whole interaction. Just checking that I am not being unreasonable to take this complaint further? It was such a bizarre conversation that I'm genuinely doubting myself!

I stayed in a Travelodge once and there was no hot water. The manager got it sorted out within minutes. You got very bad customer service and I would complain.

No YANBU. A hotel should be able to supply you with hot water. If they can't, then they at least must be professional in their approach to the issue, not try to fob you off and be all sneery.

Sounds to me like they need a Sybil.
