Have recently had redundancy and want to relocate somewhere hot - and very different from UK !

Saw images of Guatemala on web last night and it looks lovely .. anyone got any experience of life in this part of the world?

YABU I used to work there and had to have an armed driver to take me anywhere as it can be such a dangerous place.

There are lots of teenaged American backpackers but not masses of older Americans or Europeans.

Regular power and water outages. Shanty towns in Guatemala City, and massive inequality.

Have you done much travelling or ever lived in a developing country OP? It’s not a walk in the park - you can have issues with things we completely take for granted here. Bit odd imo to see a few pics and immediately jump to thinking of living there without visiting or doing any further research?
