Does anyone else dislike living alone and get scared?

I know it's a bit pathetic but I'm scared of being in the dark alone so I sleep with a lamp on.
I'm very scared of spiders but I can't afford therapy or anything like that, I'm living alone so no choice but to deal with them.
Live in a very old property so seem to have more than average and have had some horrendous hand-sized ones in the bath.

Every night I'm anxious and scan every room for them, spray repellent around and so on.

Does anyone else feel like this?

When I lived alone in my twenties I found it quite scary. I think I would love it now (but I would get a dog.)

I hate spiders but I love living alone and actually really miss it now I live with my DP. Spider removal is one of the few real upsides in cohabiting with a man in my view. #badfeminist

YANBU to hate it, but I love living alone
I can do what I want when I want and my home is my own.
I don't get scared at all.

Actually where I live now I feel very safe, it's quite an active road in a busy town, I know all my neighbours and I know they're there and will hear/ realise if someone was breaking in. And when I've been alone with young children occasionally I've been fine. But I do think it depends on your neighbourhood situation. I remember being terrified in my parent's village cottage alone, it was absolutely silent at night.

The spider won’t hurt you, or do anything except scuttle off.

A spider hoover from Lakeland is your friend. My house is practically in the woods and September appears to be spider time. The hoover sucks them up then you shake them out of the window.

Oh that's awful!!!!! There aren't poisonous spiders in the UK, and killing them is atrocious. They will eat all the other bugs in your flat.

I don’t live alone but I am the only adult and I hate it, constantly worry about break ins or random noises in the night (rough area) kids would be no good during a break in obviously

How old are you? I found the older I got the less scared I got. Nowadays the sight of me at 3am would be enough to scare away any intruder 😂 I do still sleep with the hall way light on though and always will. It doesn't do any harm. Don't feel silly. Lots of us have felt the same.

I'd literally move. there's been so many this year and I hoover them up then get someone else to empty the hoover. I'd not carry on living where you do.
