MS help please! Locked Knee!

Posting here for traffic as I’m quite desperate!

I was diagnosed with MS over ten years ago - had a couple of minor relapses which coincided with pregnancy, but otherwise I’ve been unmediated and I’ve never had many major issues until now, only hand tremors.

My leg has locked backwards completely - it’s almost totally immobile and I can only bend it manually slightly and with severe pain. Limping like anything, walking is slow and I can’t put weight on it. Now I’m here in bed it’s an uncomfortable, burning sensation. Has anyone had any experience of this or know how long this might last? I need to be walking half a mile each direction to school on Monday morning! What can I do to help myself? Any advice would be so much appreciated.

I’d phone 111 and get some advice.

I don’t know anything about MS but could you get in a warm bath? Might relax the muscles?

I have MS. You need medical assistance with that. No ifs, no buts. Don't try to walk on it, get it put back in place and follow the instructions of the doctor/physio. Otherwise you could end up with permanent joint damage.

Thank you both. I’ll be trying both those things! Just panicking slightly as I really can’t afford to be so immobile when I have dc to look after!

Sorry, I just saw your message. How annoying! And I don’t know how quickly I can be seen. I have to walk on it, I’ve got no option. I suppose I was hoping it would be something I could ease/remedy at home with a bit of time 😭

Unless there's another adult in your house OP, please don't get in the bath.

Just incase you can't get out again.

If you have to walk on it, at least support it. You can get a knee support from the chemist. But do get it seen.

I dont know anything about MS but the previous poster mentioned that you need a doctor or physio. You could likely see a private physio today for £50/£60 pounds , if you have the money it would be worth it , call a few first this to check availability and to describe your symptoms (incase it's a specialist area and check they have that expertise)

Good luck getting some help soon
