Was this unprofessional of the tradesman?

I had someone in yesterday to complete work in my house. I was in another room and left him to it, but he kept swearing and cursing throughout the job. He wasn't rude to me or anything, I don't know if the job was harder than he thought but he didn't mention anything, he completed it quite fast.
He just kept shouting 'fucking hell!' And 'for fucks sake!'.
It made me a bit uncomfortable, he was a young lad around early 20s I think and was sent by his boss, what would you have thought?

I’d say it’s fairly standard & wouldn’t overly worry about it. Wouldn’t love it but if the work was done well, I wouldn’t care. Was it?

I would be kind of amused, maybe slightly concerned that he was struggling to complete the job. It's not great work behavior, especially if he knew you could hear him, though.

Yes it was unprofessional. You wouldn't expect it from someone doing something for you, like your hairdresser.

That said, I would just let it go. It's not unusual, but I don't think I'd have him back.

Yeah, I know as it's mainly men doing this work people seem to give them a bit of leeway and write it off as being a 'lad' but you wouldn't expect a hairdresser or someone to do it like you say.

We had someone to fix the boiler one time, he was very loud, grunting, puffing and panting, no swearing, I felt very uncomfortable even tho I was in the next room with my DH, was so glad when he left, don't know what it was all about but was relieved when I shut the door behind him, just got on with my day

I have a carpenter friend who is amazing at his job and a lovely guy, but he swears like a trooper when he's working if he isn't aware anyone can hear.

I personally wouldn’t be overly bothered about this, it’s probably something I’d tell my partner about and we’d feel a bit sorry for him that he was having a tough day (maybe have a bit of a chuckle about it 🫣). Only thing that would make me annoyed is if my toddler was around whilst he was doing it, but in that scenario I’d have been straight in to tell him to stop it!
