Has anyone used cremation ashes for jewellery?

I recently had a stillbirth, we are having her cremated and I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to use some of the ashes for a necklace? I like the idea that she will be with me, I just hate the thought of it getting ruined/loosing it. Another thought is finding a company that is good enough to actually make it last forever without it badly wearing down. Has anyone done this?

I felt the same way. Instead I ordered a type of little locket, made to carry ashes where you can put some of the ashes in yourself. They provide a little kit to do it at home so you don’t need to send the ashes away or have anyone else handling it. I wear it everyday.

My friend had some of her Dad's ashes made into a ring, and It is absolutely beautiful.
I am so sorry you are in this position I can't imagine how you are coping with it, but what a lovely positive thought.
I know her ring has brought my friend great comfort.💐

I have my husband’s ashes still & would like to put some of them in a piece of jewellery but I just can’t find jewellery I like, it always seems to be quite old fashioned!

I think I like the sound of your locket Dottie, maybe I’ll have a look for something like that.

And I’m sorry for your loss OP 💐

I had rings done with horse hair in, same as they would with ashes and they’re 6 years old and still look great

My daughter had a really pretty ring made after my husband died. She doesn't wear it a lot but it's very precious to her
I'm so sorry for your loss x

I really like this one (obviously I don’t know your taste!) but they have a few different simple types

Ashes with art are amazing!! I had one with my mums ashes and more recently my mum and dad together! I absolutely love having them with me so to speak!

They're in Worthing but you can sort it all online- they have a wide choice of jewellery and they’re also lovely to deal with!!

rockstarshoes · 22/09/2025 22:59

They are lovely Angel thank you!

Thingsthatgo · 22/09/2025 23:20

I would suggest finding a local jeweller and create a ring or pendant with the ashes behind a gemstone within the design, rather than mixing them into resin. I work in a jewellers and we make them fairly often, we film the moment of putting the ashes into the setting and then putting the gemstone in.

Wildflowerswildhorses · 22/09/2025 23:20

I had my husband's ashes made into a charm.

You can buy rings and bangles with a space for ashes that gets sealed, I've seen them.on Etsy.
Some jewellery makers will also include ashes in a piece of jewellery. My friend had her mother's engagement ring altered to fit her and asked the jeweller to include ashes of her daughter. I think she specifically chose the jeweller because she knew they already worked with ashes.
She never takes the ring off.

I'm so sorry for your loss OP.

Yes, I had my husbands ashes put into rings and necklaces. I was also concerned about sending his ashes off, but the place I used were brilliant. They sent me everything I needed, and I posted them off the securest way possible. Got my jewellery back within 6 weeks. I used Ashes into Glass and was invited to watch the process, but declined.

Ladyzfactor · 23/09/2025 00:38

Former death worker here. You can get ashes added to lab grown diamonds, then have the diamonds made into whatever jewelry you want. It's obvious a more expensive route than ash jewelry but is more durable.

caringcarer · 23/09/2025 01:00

I had a student who had a diamond necklace and she told me it was made from the ashes of her 2 grandparents. She and her Mum both had one made.

Mamadothehump · 23/09/2025 03:26

So sorry for your loss.

I have a bracelet made with my Mum’s ashes from Everwith, as do my daughters.

Zanatdy · 23/09/2025 05:20

Yes, I had a ring made with my dad’s. Reminds me that I still have some in my drawer at home, going to scatter them when I go on a cruise next month (literally just a tiny bit). Will do it where we set off from as that’s where he was raised.

CreepingCrone · 23/09/2025 10:27

Yes, I bought a plain steel bangle with an aperture for ashes after my Mum died right before the pandemic. We didn't get to have a funeral and it was 6 months before we could gather to scatter her ashes. I made up the bangles for my sisters and nieces, and I wear it when I really miss her. My daughter wears herself all the time. It's very discreet, there's nothing visible that signals "ashes", but it just helps my heart 🖤

katem98 · 02/11/2025 13:56

I made resin jewellery with ashes/ hair. My advice would be to find a smaller, independent company rather than the bigger companies. Much more personal experience and I’ve had loads of customers come to me with faulty/ non-lasting pieces from the bigger companies. Sorry for your loss❤️

MildlyAnnoyed · 02/11/2025 14:10

My daughter did. She had a necklace with some of her grandads ashes in. It’s very beautiful.

So sorry for your loss. I recommend Ashes into Glass I have a beautiful ring from there.

RoseAlone · 02/11/2025 14:56

I'm so sorry for the loss of your little one.

Be careful. My friend looked into the whole thing really thoroughly and came to the conclusion that even the most "reputable" ones were decidedly dodgy.

That's probably a scam and they're just using lab created diamonds

Apparent glass is supposed to be the best.
