Best ear plugs?

Yes I abu to post it here but I’ve ran out of patience.

My neighbours have chickens and that’s cool I love chickens nice fresh eggs.

But they have a fucking cockerel and it starts around 3am every 10 sodding minutes or at least feels like it stops around 7am for a nap I suspect and then strikes up again. Now the day time is bad enough but I’ve not slept so bad even when the children were babies.

we went away two weeks ago and none of us including the children got up much before 10am finally being able to sleep the first couple Of days, bliss, apart from missing some holiday time.

Even with the windows closed its doodledoo could wake the dead. Council are useless. Neighbour knows it’s a pain as someone else has reported and I have commented politely about certainly not needing an alarm clock since they got him as it’s impossible to sleep though. No fucks given by them.

Definitely the silicone ones.

ThatGreatMember · 22/09/2025 19:15

Ozlo Sleepbuds. Nothing wakes me up whilst wearing these.

Wecouldbesohappybaby · 22/09/2025 19:20

I use Soundbloc silicone ear plugs- the green ones. I have small ear canals and these ones can be squished to fit perfectly. I used to use foam ones, but they eventually irritated my ears. I can't get on with the hard ones (like Loop) but my DD loves them. You might need to try a few to find what's best for you.

The purple ones from Tesco

JoanThursday · 22/09/2025 19:21

Mack's silicone ear plugs from Amazon. I've tried many and I always come back to these.

NutButterOnToast · 22/09/2025 19:22

Boots wax earplugs.

OhmygodDont · 22/09/2025 19:23

Thank you.

Sounds like I might need to buy a few different ones.

Anyone found certain ones make their ears sweaty? I’ve found some ear pods do.

Plus play some white noise - you can play it through your phone or buy a small white noise machine inexpensively

yes these have highest db blocking 33db - higher than the loop and other non-disposable things. I use them most nights. Have researched all the foam and silicone ones!

I’ve tried sounds of the ocean and rain. But a sudden doodle doo overcomes.

Also means you’re always on edge for it suddenly starting. I hoped the darker would have helped but if anything it’s like his starting earlier the earlier the nights pull in also whilst still being at it all day. I’ve never heard one going off so much and I have an Alloment and people have cockerels there but you might hear one once in an hour maybe.

I use the yellow spongey ones from Amazon, the old fashioned type. I got very dry itchy ears from the silicone ones for some reason? I buy them in bulk every few months.

Why do they have a cockerel? You can definitely pursue it, your council should be acting on the complaints!

Our council don’t seem to be as hot on it. Sadly.

There's a rooster in the garden of the house opposite me and I HATE IT. I can't believe it's ok to keep a rooster in a residential garden. It's such a joke!!!

Plastictreees · 22/09/2025 19:39

Loop earplugs, for sure. More expensive but worth it.

Radiatorbings · 22/09/2025 19:40

I would suggest a fox.

AverageDuck · 22/09/2025 19:42

I can recommend these Alpine ear plugs….

JemimaTab · 22/09/2025 19:43

I use Loop earplugs (specifically the ones for sleep - I think they’re called Dream) and find them very good.

InsectsMatter · 22/09/2025 19:56

Muffles wax earplugs from boots.

DelilahBucket · 22/09/2025 21:13

Loops are great for me as a side sleeper.

Zempy · 22/09/2025 21:20

Loops. You won’t hear a thing.

I recommend thick curtains to absorb the sound.
