Friends Opinion on My choosen taxi?

My friend and I had just come out of the station, and there were no other passengers—taxis were queued on the other side of the road, but we were the only ones there at the time. I got into the nearest taxi because I liked the car and the way the doors opened. My friend gave me the side-eye and said, “You’re supposed to take the first taxi in line—that’s how it works.” The driver didn’t say anything and there were no signs. Was I in the wrong?
No queue-just us.

I did . I don't like the sliding doors on some taxis, for a reason
I prefer where it's 4 doors, and each door opens separately.
I'm paying so my choice.

I am mystfied about liking the way the car doors opened. Unless it was a dolorean, I can't imagine even noticing that kind of detail in a taxi.

Aren't the doors usually closed though? I literally only check the car at the front of the line is a taxi, not already with passengers in it, and then get in, if it is. I don't really give anything else much thought, to be honest.

Um...your friend DID say something! who else are you expecting to have got involved? random passers by? There isn't a boss of the taxi rank who would have appeared out of nowhere blowing a whistle.

Obviously the person whose taxi you got in isn't going to say anything, they want your fare! The taxis ahead of him were probably pissed off but by the time they worked out what you were doing they weren't going to chase off after you beeping their horns and losing their own place in the queue.

You're not a child, you can't use "well a grown up didn't tell me off so I wasn't naughty" as an excuse.

It's a queue. The one you took would've had to manoeuvre out of the queue because there's another cab in front of him. Surely it's obvious to take the front one. Have you never taken a taxi before?
