I get it OP as I enjoy this kind of planning for trips too. You can always depart from the plan but it gives you something to go by! @CountryQueen makes a good point about planning places to eat and I like that aspect of it too. You can use Google maps and see what looks nice in the area you're planning to be. I also think the 29th, the day including the Picasso museum, looks over full and I'll cut some of this down.

kinkiskarma · 21/09/2025 00:36

Looks lovely! My only comment as someone who goes to the south of France a lot is either turn up promptly for the opening of the first sitting of the restaurants or book a couple of days in advance. As the good places will be full in the season!

I’ve been to Monza for the F1 and I found it utterly chaotic. So be prepared for your plans for the F1 weekend to go out of the window. It’s a great experience, but bloody hell, it was frustrating!

Edited

I went this year and thought it was amazing - far better than Silverstone!

Why would you have a shower for an hour and a half on race day? Seems a huge waste of time.

What stands out to me is that you’ve planned your shower regime, given yourself very tight turnarounds for some things but not planned exactly where to eat.

“Find somewhere for dinner” is not as easy as you’d think in Nice. Places get booked up etc and if you want to enjoy a decent meal you should be researching that and have a list of potential dinner spots.

It’ll be after the race, so in prep for the flight home the next day haha

next on my list is researching places to eat!

Alone? Now I’m even more jealous. This trip sounds amazing.

It’s my first ever solo trip, I’m so excited. I decided to go after going this year with my family and realising I was the only one who understood the public transport systems in Italy 🤣 it made me realise I could go it alone

Why would anyone plan their holiday down the the last second.. what happened to relaxing

If I’m doing a beach holiday I wouldn’t plan it at all, but this is very much a get up and go holiday

I think planning is good 🤷🏻‍♀️ you don't have to stick to the timings exactly, but it's good to have an understanding!

If it were me, I wouldn't go to the town of lake Como. I'd get the train directly to Varenna (it's really easy from Milan central) and I'd split my time (boat trips) between Varenna and Bellagio. I think you'd get the most out of them that way, rather than including Como as well, which is much further down.

MiddleAgedDread · 21/09/2025 08:32

Can I come?

Silverbirchleaf · 21/09/2025 08:32

Can I come? Sounds fab.

Don’t know the areas. However, not sure you’ve accommodated enough time for travel and time to look around.

crumpet · 21/09/2025 08:35

Why full body shower before the flight? I’d save it until you get home to relax and recover from the flight

Absentosaur · 21/09/2025 08:36

Why does chat gpt specify ‘full body shower’?

Oooh I’ll take a look at that - I loved como this year, but then again I have been there before so I’m not bothered by skipping it!

ChatGPT doesn’t. I do.

the f1 is, in a nice way, fucking minging. You get sweaty. You get dirty, even in a grandstand you’re heading to the shade every minute there’s not racing and you’re sitting in the mud (because even though it seems to rain overnight in Monza, it didn’t during the day!), you’re covered in suncream and insect repellent, so I want to have some time to really scrub that off so I’m not disgusting before I fly!

OP posts:
MaybeIf · 21/09/2025 08:38

OP, you’ve posted at least a couple of times about this trip before, if I remember correctly, including in minute detail about how to get to the F1 track. Now that you’re using ChatGPt to schedule your showers a year ahead of time, I honestly think you need to work on your anxiety. It’s a short break in the south of France and Italy, not being parachuted into Mogadishu in wartime. You don’t need to plan it like a covert ops mission.

Ineedahaircutnow · 21/09/2025 08:39

I liked the Marc Chagall museum more than the nearby Matisse museum. Those close for lunch and get really busy so planning timings would be pretty helpful actually. I also liked the Photography museum and MAMAC. There is a lot of good food everywhere but recommend this one for atmosphere and service as well as food:

Ibis Budget hotels are extremely basic: fine for a one night stopover but I wouldn’t want to stay in one for a holiday. I’d look for something a notch or two higher where at least the desk is manned 24/7.

JoanOgden · 21/09/2025 08:42

There's a lot of travelling and your itinerary doesn't include most journey times. Working out the way to the station, getting there early to be ready, getting the train, minor delays, finding your way at the other end - these are all time-consuming and a bit tiring. So make sure your itinerary allows for them.

There's a lot of strolling around which personally I would get bored of quite quickly, but presumably you enjoy!

I’m happy with basic! It’s a double bed and a shower - that’s all I really want!

In Lake Como I don’t think you will be able to do all
that you have planned in one day. The thing to note is the ferry times and how busy they are so there often isn’t availability for the trips you want to do.

ImAPreMadonna · 21/09/2025 08:49

I’d need a holiday to recover from your holiday!

Ok, well, there’s another poster who adores F1 and has posted previously about this being her first solo trip to Monza, asking how to arrange a short holiday around the race, and asking with a similar attention to detail about exactly how to get to the track and away again.

I suppose what I meant was, why not just ‘shower’?

I’ve always called them everything/full body showers, just depends on what I’m going to do! I think it’s a social media thing haha
