Was I in the wrong? Aggressive driver

I was on my way home from work this evening. There’s a shop on the main road where you have to pull straight in, which means people have to reverse out. While I was driving down the road, a car started to reverse out. I have no idea how they didn’t see me since my lights were on. I honked my horn to alert them and they stopped. I carried on and a few seconds later they drove right up behind me and started flashing their lights at me. Then, as I was about to turn onto my street, they honked at me and drove off.

AIBU for thinking I didn't do anything wrong? I thought they were going to follow me home and it’s freaked me out a bit tbh!

Of course you weren't in the wrong, but some drivers are just idiots and always have to be right.
Last week I was driving into a road which has two entry roads to a retail park. I was going for the furthest but a car came out of the first one, even though there are give way lines. I had to stop sharply. He stopped level with me, opened his window and shouted What is wrong with you?
I have no idea why he thought I'd done anything wrong. I just laughed and he zoomed off, no doubt to cause havoc elsewhere.

I've come to suspect that a lot of the time drivers realise they were in the wrong but project their anger with themselves onto the other party, and then have to make some kind of point.

You weren't in the wrong. This person was pissed off that you didn't let him do what he wanted.
Some people get so stressed about minor things when driving. I always think if they get that stressed, they shouldn't be driving!

You did the correct thing - the Highway Code says that this is a proper use of the horn - to warn someone of your presence. They sound like entitled twats and they were the ones using their horns improperly!
