Just wondering if anyone can help, how much do they take for a non dependent when on universal credits ? I've read all different things, I have 2 adult children who live with me, one at 24 who is going to be changing jobs with a higher wage and a 20 year old who will be starting full time work, does it depend on there income on how much the deduction from uc will be it's all confusing.
Thank you

@00000L No, it doesn't depend on their income OP. The deduction is a flat-rate of £93.02pm for each non-dependant adult in your household over the age of 21 and is taken from the housing element of your UC. So, you won't see any increase in the deduction when your eldest DC changes jobs, and you will only see a second deduction of £93.02 when your youngest reaches 21.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, I was reading all different things as some where saying deduction would be for non dependents over 18 and others said 21 so was confused 😕.
My eldest son is already working and uc deduction is £93.02 for him but I thought this would change as he's changing jobs going from a P/T position to a full time position, so will be earning more money, and the other one at 20 will also be full time, so do they not go by income?
If I read your message correctly if my uc is already been deducted at £93.02 for my son and my other is 20, then nothing will change in my uc? Also what proof do I need to send in for the change of circumstances. Thank you not very good at all this 😕

No, as I said it's a FLAT-RATE deduction of £93.02 per non-dependant so is definitely not linked to the amount the non-dependant earns.
Your UC will not change due to a non-dependant deduction, therefore, until your second DC reaches 21.
I'm not sure what change of circumstance you're referring to? Is your 20yr old about to turn 21? If it's this change you're talking about you can simply put a note on your UC journal to draw the DWP's attention to the fact your second DC is about to turn 21 so you will therefore be subject to a second non-dependent deduction of £93.02 (you would have already included your DCs details, including their dates of birth, in your original UC claim, so the DWP may not need any evidence at all, but I'm sure they'll tell you what they need, if anything.

Thank you very much, the change if circumstances was just my sons job and income change, my daughter only turned 20 last month and was in full time education and is about to start a full time position, thank you again and sorry about all the questions but uc just confuses me, I also work so just about got my head around the deductions from my own earnings and didn't know how it worked with my sons job change and my daughters new job, thank you so much for explaining 😊
