Interested to see people's views on this one... so we've been hit by extremely wet weather of late - in fact at one local roundabout the flooding was over the bonnet of cars - it's been grotty and I haven't ventured out much.
Today I had a meeting in Cardiff, so packed my trusty small wooden duck head umbrella (he's cute and some of his prongs are broken due to wind - but he still works perfectly well!) and went out into the wild...
... as with many cities, there are some very narrow walkways. And I have had to walk into the road three times due to people wielding golf umbrellas (nearly four, but the last time I stood my ground and said: "Excuse me, there's not enough room on the pavement to get past your umbrella." Mr Legal and General - as per his branded umbrella - gave me a bit of a look, but he did at least step off the kerb to let me pass, thank you Mr Grumpy L&G.)
So AIBU to think that golf umbrellas don't belong in narrow city streets?
YABU - Everyone has a right to keep dry and it's not that much of an issue to circumnavigate around people who essentially are carrying around their own personal circus tent.
YANBU - Golf umbrellas belong on the golf course or in non-built up areas, there is not remotely enough room for them in narrow city streets and those wielding them either blunder on blithely unaware of other people, or almost poke you in the eye when you try to get past and you are then forced to walk into the road - in the gutter where puddles devour your footwear - to avoid them.
I'm not biased of course... as I say, interested to see other people's views!
