So you agree. She was taking the piss. So I clapped back. Done

Well, I mean, obviously she was. “Clapped back” doesn’t mean “made a bunch of lazy assumptions about a poster and showed yourself up”.

But it wasn’t bitchy to me, right? Clearly stressed as I need internet for work and I get comments like that.

The poster wouldn't have been able to make your internet work, so just tried to make light of the situation.
Have a go at Sky, not strangers on here!

SirHumphreyRocks · 17/09/2025 13:07

Well I am in Yorkshire and my Sky is fine and has been all day.

That's made what could have been a run of the mill thread a tad more interesting.

See, what you have to realise when you’re posting on MN, is that when you start a thread with a shouty melodramatic title like SKY is DOWN on AIBU, not everyone is going to take it as seriously as you take yourself.

I looked on their and it said no more than usual. They fudge it no make up panic that’s it a you problem, not they problem.

@CareerChange24 I agree it is frustrating when our Broadband goes down and understand your annoyance, but to be fair you were posting here at 3 am when not so many people would be online in the UK, so if you were among the first to report there was a problem it would take time before the down detector began to show there were problems. 'They' don't fudge things deliberately. Down detector is independant and not owned by Sky, nor any of the other providers, as far as I know.

You may need a different supplier of course, so have a look and see if some suppliers have better reviews in your area than others. But if you are in Yorkshire, it might be, that the area you live in is not the best reception for any of them?

When I used Sky, it frequently went down for a while about 1am. I reckoned they were doing maintenance of some kind! I moved to Plusnet and it was much better. Then later upgraded to Full Fibre also with Plusnet and only 2 problems over a few years. Neither of which were Plusnet's fault. In fact one of them was caused by an underground electrical fire, in electricity cables which were laid alongside Broadband cables a mile from our house and fried them all. Took Open Reach 4 days to repair after the Electric board had done their bit. 2000 homes were affected with all Broadband suppliers. Things happen sometimes!

If you need Sky Internet for work have you got a Sky Broadband Business account?

You should contact them immediately when there’s an issue as they should be giving you a back up provision (4G) if there are any issues

No, it wasn't a bitchy comment at all. I'm very sure many of us found your capitalised title melodramatic, would immediately have thought of chicken licken and be amused by @OhNoNotSusan 's comment. There was nothing bitchy about it, unlike your petulant and rude tirade in response. You might be under pressure, but that doesn't excuse you responding in the way you did. The more mature approach would have been to get your problem sorted out through the appropriate channels instead of wasting time on Mumsnet. How on earth did you expect anyone on here to do it for you?

i did have an acorn hit me on the head on monday, i felt like chicken licken

Yes, Chicken Licken 🤣🤣. That was my first thought too.

mamagogo1 · 17/09/2025 15:08

Remember the Sky broadband comes via open reach, it was open reach that had to fix my connection, sky is the end service provider only
