Shit! Dead tumble dryer 💀 Anyone have Which?

Tumble dryer has died this evening. Bad news 😱

Anyone have Which? Membership?

I need to purchase tomorrow and always make botch appliance decisions when rushed.

Ideally a 10kg condenser is what I want with good energy rating. Are there any on the Which guide?

I know it’s a cheeky ask and effort. All I can offer is to forever send you thoughts and prayers and good wash omens 😂 🙏

What @BagGreen24 says I have this and love it.

To be fair I am awful at this so buy one size up to accommodate shrinkage.

It didn't just shrink them, it ran so hot that it imprinted creases all over the clothes that were so ingrained that I couldn't even steam press them out. It even managed to melt the buttons on the cardigans. Four sets of uniform - completely trashed. I'm still bitter about that.

Nah - tumble dryers are like dishwashers: once you've had one you use regularly you do not wait to replace. Wet washing around the place when the weather is like this is depressing and not healthy.

I’m the opposite. I had one but on moving house didn’t really have room for it so I gave it to friends. That was in 2013. I haven’t had one since. I have a dehumidifier instead. It’s brilliant. Dries out the house as well as clothes. Much better for the environment too.

Okiedokie123 · 18/09/2025 00:22

And it doesn’t trash our clothes!

I bought a Miele heat pump dryer at the beginning of the year. It takes a bit of getting used to because it drys at a lower temperature, but because it recycles the hot air it uses less energy and doesn’t dry things to a crisp.
I do a lot less ironing and clothes that do need ironing are much easier to iron. Clothes feel a little damp when you take them out but this is just because you are used to bone dry clothes.
Mine is connected to an app on my phone and b cause it lives in the garage I get an alert when it’s finished or if the lint trap needs emptying. You can connect the drain to a waste pipe but I just empty the water reservoir when it’s full. I just haven’t got round to connecting it and altering the settings.
Mine was on offer from John Lewis when I bought it. Delivery service is good and they take away your old one if you want. I think you can also pay to have them connect it.
Because it doesn’t need a drain or is vented you can put it anywhere. There are no problems with damp and it has a two step lint filter. One you empty after each cycle and another that traps fine lint and needs cleaning after every 50 cycles.
If the lint is too full it won’t work. A good safety feature to prevent fires.

Just a rough costing of energy. I have had dryer on all day today and it has cost between £2-3 on its hottest setting. DS is going back to uni tomorrow so I have been doing a mammoth washing session.

I've literally just bought a new one at the weekend. Ordered at 2pm Sat was delivered on Sunday.
Went for this one after some research
https://ao.com/product/b3t4911dw-beko-condenser-tumble-dryer-white-88793-18.aspx
Old one was a heat pump and took forever and died after less than 4 years! Although I do use it a lot.
I'm really impressed with this one up to now. Loads quicker than the old one. Might be less efficient but takes half the time so surely cancels out 🤷🏼‍♀️

Edited

I literally just bought this one too. I ordered it online from curry’s and could collect it an hour later.

My mum bought a Hoover vented tumble dryer a couple of weeks ago, apparently from October you will only be able to buy Heat Pump dryers as all the others are being outlawed for Environmental reasons. I had to ring several places to even find one in stock.

You can log in to which for free at libraries.

@Chaosclassici joined which again last month - I went through TopCashback and there was about £35. So it worked out about £35/40 for a years sub which I decided was well worth it.

Iizzyb · 18/09/2025 06:41

I have that Beko condenser model too - it’s very good and I would recommend despite not really wanting a Beko originally as I’d had a Beko fridge previously which was awful

Waterbaby41 · 18/09/2025 08:32

I would go for a heat pump dryer - much more efficient than a condenser, cheaper to run. LG are good. Wouldn't touch Beko appliances ever!

Chaosclassic · 27/09/2025 18:55

Woohoo! So the recommended Beto has arrived. Got to say it’s a beauty. And a 9kg drum is flying through loads coming out of our 6kg washer.

Funny story - when we went to plug it in it didn’t work. Turns out the dryer was never broken. Just the fuse in the wall socket 🙈

Anyway… I love my new dryer too much so off to eBay for the old one.

What dryer settings are everyone with this beko enjoying most? So far I have tried ‘mixed’ and ‘daily’. Both amazing.
