Its so addictive. Ive logged out of Instagram and I'm going to see how long that lasts. I love mumsnet but I'm wasting too much time on it. Anyone else doing a cut ??

I still have facebook and insta because honestly, how long can you actually spend scrolling them these days?! There’s fuck all of interest to see, it’s all adverts and crap. I’m on and off in 5 minutes. WhatsApp is just a messaging service for me. The only place I spend too much time is probably in here, although with the huge numbers of fake posts and trolls lately I notice there’s less and less interesting threads to read.

Yes definitely agree. I deactivated Twitter and instagram in the pandemic because it became a horrible place. I still have a FB account but got rid of all friends etc and never post, I only use it for a private charity volunteer group where we organise shifts. In my FB bio under my name I say it’s purely used for this purpose and told friends/family I was coming off all SM. I use Mumsnet but only because as someone else said it’s an old fashioned forum and it’s useful for general queries, especially on pets & gardening etc. Don’t get involved in other stuff. Personally I feel a lot better and anxiety has decreased since leaving SM. I started with month long breaks first and felt the benefit almost immediately. Glad I grew up when SM wasn’t around.

I removed FB and instagram from my phone ages ago and am better for it. I have cut my exposure to racism and misogyny and also more productive.

Win!!

Sometimes I have to redownload insta as some businesses I use run their businesses on their but I remove it immediately after.

@ReacherOMGyesthat’s interesting, I didn’t know that! How does that work, then?

Not sure if it's the same on each OS but on my android app it's the 'updates' tab on the bottom. You can join all sorts of channels to get updates, I just use it for local stuff and events happening near me. But also follow my (rather dismal) football club on it
