Pervy messages from friend

My friend has started sending me inappropriate messages. I've blocked them for now as I dont want to confront them and I dont want to keep receiving them.

We have been friends a long time, we haven't seen each other recently but we do keep in touch. But recently he's upped the ante and been messaging every day, usually just about work, holidays, weather etc

I'd say from my point of view they have come out of nowhere. We were messaging last week and I was saying how I dont think my dog likes meat anymore and he replied "I'd eat your meat" I said "sorry?" and he replied "not in a cannibal way" I was pretty disgusted so didn't reply. I thought he'd got the message because he didn't bring it up again and the next time he messaged was a different topic. Then roday!!! We were talking about Xmas and he said he wasn't going to do anything for it this year other then a work meal out and then he said "I'm not doing anything else unless I'm stuffing you" I was really pissed off he seems to think he can talk to me like this, he then sent 2 more messages to the same tune, which I didn't really read and I just blocked.

Am I in the right? I haven't over reached have i?

YANBU You were right to block him.

This would give me the ick, he’s not a friend and I would block him.

I have a friend like this. His marriage is unhappy and he texts a lot of female friends (from work). Occasionally he says really crude, flirty things. I think it’s a cry for help. Not sure about your friend but I don’t think I’d block him without digging into it a bit.
