To think most managers are insecure people hiding behind job titles?

The bigger the title, the more fragile the ego. AIBU to think management attracts people who need power to feel important?

I'm a teacher. I have experience of some very bad headteachers, but tbh a lot of the middle managers and SLT I've encountered in my long career have been pretty good. I've only ever had one difficult Head of Department, and even he was quite effective in lots of ways.
