Egg Sandwiches on National Expresss Coach

DoItAfraid · 12/09/2025 13:17

I’m on a national express coach to London Victoria and there is a large group travelling together who seem to think that it is hilarious that they have brought egg sandwiches onboard to eat on the journey.

They are going on and on about it so they are fully aware that egg sandwiches are smelly - they seem to think it’s very funny.

It’s a long journey in a confined space. Why would anyone do this?

Dont get me started on the loud phone calls, videos on speaker etc.

AIBU?

YABU: people are free to do whatever they want; they have paid for their tickets. Your HRT might need checking as you are grumpy.

YANBU: people are really inconsiderate these days.

I would be more concerned about the after effects from said egg sandwiches....💨💨

Hopefully OP will have got off the coach by then.

I would be gagging, I absolutely hate egg and the smell makes me want to vomit. It’s so grim of them to do that!

I once had a woman sit next to me on a train at 9am and proceeded to unwrap and eat egg, cheese and onion sandwiches.

The other day on a train an anti-social idiot and his son had the volume full blast on both of their phones. When I was getting off at my station I said quite loudly "next time don't forget your headphones". He knew I was referring to him because I saw him giving me the finger as the train pulled off 😂😂😂

Heathens, pure and simple.

it's always a good idea to have ear plugs / headphones for any trips on public transportation.
It sounds like the group was having a good time.
OP sounds a bit miserable.

@Mumtobabyhavoc

I did have headphones, thanks.

I am going to be on a long train trip tom. What sandwiches should I eat? I don't eat ham.
I am serious.

A salad

Ham, tomato and salad

Cheddar cheese and cucumber

Jam 🙈

Safe travels.

I once had to sit next to a man on a flight, who got out a tuna and onion sandwich, took his sweet time eating it, then got out a boiled egg. The worst flight of my life ever.

I would have been looking for a parachute 🤢

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/09/2025 17:43

I don't eat ham.

Pack a ham sandwich, then.

🤦‍♀️

mamaduckbone · 13/09/2025 21:04

Not sure what this says about me but all this did was make me really want an egg sandwich, which I've now had, and thoroughly enjoyed, in the privacy of my own home.

Eating whilst in the move isn't my preferred option, but sometimes needs must. I think good food often has an aroma, so I wouldn't balk at the smell of other people's food choices. There's always someone who will be disgusted. I was once on a bus delayed by traffic. I ate a banana and was really surprised that my seatmate was so turned off by it. Maybe she was pregnant, maybe she just loathed the smell of bananas. Good cheese anyone? Should that only be eaten at home?

PeonyBulb · 13/09/2025 22:01

The smell would make me physically retch so I’d aim my vomit in their direction as I stood up and bent in their direction
