day off work for flat tyre?

Coming home from working this evening I found I had a flat tyre. Someone had an electric pump and pumped it up so I could get home. Tyre pressure light came on again as I turned into my road.
We live fairly rural so no public transport.
I don't know what to do other than phone up places tomorrow morning and see if someone can get a tyre in for me in the afternoon?

It seems silly to have to cancel work (and give refunds) just because of flat tyre.
Any suggestions?

@CalzoneOnLegs no problem! Thank you for taking the time to post anyway!

all sorted now with only 1 hours worth of teaching to refund.
thanks everyone. It cost £20 in the end. 😁😁😁😁

Wow! Bargain! 😆 Glad you got it sorted! Smile

Change to your spare tyre for the drive in, leave it at a garage and pick up at lunch or after work

Not all cars have a spare! Or I’m sure she’d do just that 🙄

Some good info on this thread but also a bit of oneupmanship which is a shame. If your car says low pressure, check it immediately as it’s not saying it at nothing and tyre pressure is way more important than you think. That’s why they went to the length of designing the monitor. To keep us safer.

the truth is cars aren’t designed for you to be able to do anything yourself nowadays. Even a simple light bulb change requires a wheel off and an nvq. I have a company car with full coverage of everything and I am still able to lose a full day waiting for a tyre to be changed, the aa to recover me and/or services to be completed.

I'm glad you’re sorted! I hope it doesn’t happen again for a long time!

Check if you have breakdown cover lumped in with insurance or your employers employee assistance scheme or bank account etc.

@cosmobrown only one to refund that's great but I was thinking of all these children who haven't done enough practice this week and would have loved a lesson off 😁. I was more diligent as an adult doing my piano practice though.

Lol! To be fair, most of my pupils this week have played over the summer. Only 1 pupil came with a jammed up instrument that had been neglected all summer!
Glad to hear you have been practising - have a house point!

Why did you drive home on it instead of to a tyre place?

Because it was about 10:30pm.
