To be not sure about getting varicose veins treated again

I’m 30 and had my varicose veins treated years ago through the NHS. I had a great surgeon but unfortunately two babies later they came back worse than ever. I’m 5 months postpartum and my GP kindly referred me back the same surgeon when I asked. The surgeon told me shencould treat them again but they would probably come back, there’s no medical reason to treat them but he would treat them for cosmetic reasons. However, there’s risks like a blood clot forming or making them worse. I do miss how smooth my legs looked after she treated them the first time. I think it last about 4 years until I got pregnant and gained weight. I’ve not lost the weight and I just want to be able to feel confident again in a dress or shorts. Has anyone gone on to regret getting them treated a second time?

I got both legs stripped this year. I’m 44. Was meant to be done about 10 years ago but I was too scared.
It is the best thing I have ever done. Wish I had done it when I was younger.
Yes they may come back as I genetically have bad veins (as have all ladies in my mums side) , but if they do then I will definitely do it again. Yes there is risks, but equally there’s risks in having them in first place.

there’s less invasive options like laserimg which may be a option. I left it too late so was 2x GA’s

I didn’t get mine done because the surgeon said they would just come back.

I have to agree the outcome of getting them done is just amazing. My legs looked “normal”We’re the same here in my family, all the women have bad veins. My mums legs (in her late 60’s) are in great shape, she’s lovely and slim but she gets bad swelling and discolouration. I luckily just get the achy legs at the moment but makes standing for long periods difficult. I had EVLT last time, I’ve not heard about lasering so it’s something to look up.

Yeah I’m torn, I’m proof mine did come back and new ones appeared. That’s my issue. Did they tell you if yours were hereditary? Mine definitely are so in a way it feels pointless, I’m just so unsure if it’s a risk worth taking.

ELVT was what I meant by laser sorry.
are you NHS or private as the private clinics may have more options.

But to answer your question, I’m definitely team ‘go for it’. Your still young (although maybe once you know your not planning anymore pregnancies incase it was to trigger it again)

xx

Got mine done in my 50s, wish I’d got them done years ago, I’d definitely get it done again, when they come back. Though my sister got hers done in her 30s and they haven’t come back…
