Unauthorised Access to my Sons HMRC Gateway Account

My ex-husband set up a tax account for my son when he was 16 as he was working self employed and his father was doing his tax return for him.
However he is now 20 and my husband is still looking at my sons wages through the HMRC gateway and questions him if his wages are low, he has been PAYE for the past 2 years.
We have phoned up HMRC who have changed the email address and phone number so the access codes come through to my son now.............then last night AGAIN he asked my son why his wages were low again this week.

So my question is..........can you have multiple gateway access accounts? this seems to be what the issue is, yet HMRC said that he only had one account which is the account they have changed the email address/phone number on.

Im thinking that my son has a personal tax account (the one HMRC have changed the contact email address/phone) and a self assessment separate login which my ex-husband has access to.

HMRC are useless and I just don't know what to do. He clearly has my sons ID so worried he's setting up his own gateway to view his salary with his own email address/phone number.

Very simple

Simply change password to online account

job done

It’s not to do with your son’s email or password, it’s to do with who can access the records. Your son’s father will be logging in as himself but has access to see your son’s account.
I can’t remember exactly how to find this but somewhere within your son’s account he will find a section for “manage who can access…”, he should find that and remove his father.

Can he request all the data about him from HMRC, which hopefully will include log in information?

Get your son to log on and look in the manage account section, is there anyone else listed there?

HMRC can barely answer the phone, I'd be very surprised if they'd be able to do that in any reasonable timeframe if at all
