Extremely heavy and painful breasts before period

I’m 36 and this has been happening the last 6 months or so.
I can only compare it to when I was breastfeeding and my boobs were really engorged. When I take my bra off they feel like rocks as gravity kicks in.

They were always a bit painful before my period but this is on another level.
I struggle to even lay on them or if someone brushes up against me.

As soon as my period starts, the pain goes away and my breasts feel completely normal again, no more heavy-ness.

My mum said she suffered the same, so it must be partly genetic.
I am so fed up with it.

The dr told me to try evening primrose oil, and it helped. She said the nhs no longer think the evidence is good enough to recommend/prescribe but she had often seen it work.

mind you, she had a good check for lumps etc first, just to be sure.

Hi Velvet, I don't have any answers but wanted to show some solidarity ❤️. I have suffered all my fertile and now none fertile life at menopause with this. Mine still swell to ginormous proportions with what they call silent periods. The full shebang pms but nothing at the end.

I had this and someone on here a few years ago recommended star flower oil. Apparently it’s got the same active ingredient as evening primrose. It really worked for me, if you google/search on here for the recommended dose.

I get this too, and have done maybe since I was about 33ish? Never before that. They can be sooo painful for a few days. No real advice, just solidarity!

I had similar and it was fibrous tissue (not fibroids). Nothing from GP except putting up with it.

I always had this, one thing that improved with the perimenopause. They were always sore for a week, sometimes it was excruciating.
